Help Keep the House Rocking!

Volunteer Bar Manager Wanted — Shelburne Curling Centre
The Shelburne Curling Centre is looking for a dependable, community-minded volunteer to take the lead as our Bar Manager. This is a great opportunity to meet people, support local curling, and help create the friendly, welcoming atmosphere our members and guests enjoy. The manager does not have to be an active curler, we are just looking for someone who is interested in helping out.

Key Responsibilities
•Coordinate bar volunteers and prepare schedules for league nights, bonspiels, and special events
•Monitor beverage and supply inventory and arrange restocking as needed
•Help ensure responsible beverage service and compliance with applicable licensing requirements
•Keep the bar area clean, organized, secure, and ready for service
•Communicate with the Centre’s executive and event organizers about bar needs
•Support volunteers by sharing procedures and helping shifts run smoothly

What We’re Looking For
•Reliable, organized, and comfortable coordinating a small team
•Friendly and committed to providing a positive experience for members and visitors
•Available to help during key curling events and busy periods
•Experience in bar service, inventory, scheduling, or volunteer coordination is helpful, but enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are most important

Why Volunteer?
You’ll play an important part in the life of the Centre, connect with fellow community members, and help make our leagues and events a success. The role can be shared with a co-manager and will be supported by a team of bar volunteers.

Ready to lend a hand? Please send us a message to volunteer, ask questions, or learn more details. Please share this notice with anyone who may be a great fit!

The Rookiespiel was held this past weekend at the Barrington Curling Club. Teams were composed of two experienced players and two new or non-consistent league players. The SCC was represented by four teams in this spiel by members Andrew and Michelle Blades, Adam Ritcey, Matt Jamieson, and Craig and Jodi MacMaster. Hopefully we will get some new curlers next year from this experience? 🥌

On March 25th, Nova Scotia International Student Program (NSISP) students were shown the basics of curling by Craig and Jodi MacMaster and NSISP ambassador and SCC SRHS student curler, Evan MacMaster. The NSISP students attend Shelburne and Lockeport high schools and come from several different countries, including Turkey, Brazil, Italy, Japan, Spain, Mexico, Germany, Kazakhstan, and China.

The Ladies’ League had a closing celebration on the 25th. They played trivia and a party game, had a million laughs, and enjoyed lots of yummy snacks. A card of thanks was given to Kenny for getting the ice ready and doing the bar for the ladies’ season. Myrna was also celebrated with a birthday cake, flowers, and a thank you card for all the wonderful things she has done for the Ladies’ League this season. Until next year!
