Clutch Farm Salmo

Twice over the last two weeks someone has stolen the cash from our farm stand.

We have operated for numerous years on trust in the community and had very little theft. That this was the case was such a little light of humanity amongst some really horrible stuff in the world.

However, it seems someone has decided to start helping themselves to our cash and as much as I would love to say "they clearly need it" I can't be making a habit of turning a blind eye. So, for the rest of the season we will have a small amount of coin change only in the stand and I have ordered a camera.

Please bring small notes and change when you visit the stand, or be prepared to e-transfer your total before leaving the stand.

Please note that once the camera arrives the farm stand will be surveilled.

Wish we didn't have to do this, but as a small business owner theft hits hard.

Thanks for your support of the farm stand over the years and your understanding in this new change of process.

nstagram is really annoying me. It keeps not posting my captions. I clear the cache, etc. and it works for the first post, then reverts back to not posting my caption and I'll sometimes forget to copy and paste before I post and lose the caption, anyone else having this issue??

That's it, that's all folks. The summer crops are out, deep fall plantings in, and now I cross my toes it all gets to maturity for the CSA to go through to December 3 like I committed to in my eagerness last winter.

Some say that paperpotted plants have longer DTMs than hand transplants, especially in cooler weather, so considering I switched so much of my production to paperpot I might have been a bit ambitious committing to an early December CSA finish given the uncertainty paperpotting in fall for the first time. I do think things were a touch slower in the spring, but sometimes it's like "was that the paperpot or just the weather?". Probably won't really know until I get a few seasons of it under my belt so I can get better averages.

We shall see!

Cross fingers for sunny days and mild-ish overnight temperatures, with some rain overnight too to help with the drought conditions in the province. Too much to ask? Ha

Lots of goodies available for the last time this season. Get 'em while you can. We are going to miss you cucumbers, beans, tomatoes, peppers, etc.

It's the busiest week of the year for us.

Flipping summer beds for fall, squash harvest, CSA, and our farm-to-table dinner prep for Friday, and a fermentation workshop Sunday. It's a big one.

Thanks Ash for being a trooper in the rain today. Mountain Barn cinnamon buns are a viable bribery tool for the ultra heavy lifting days.

Huge shout out to Sandi from for her incredible flower bouquets from her micro flower farm here in Salmo.

Her bouquets are truly a feast for the eyes. Her arrangements have honestly changed my mind on flowers, I'm converted. I wish I had a photo of one, but we certainly do feature them as table decor for our dinners and they are amazing!
