We invite the RDP community to learn, reflect, connect, and reconcile through opportunities across campus recognizing Truth and Reconciliation.
Join us throughout the week:
September 28 | Flag Raising Ceremony
9:00–9:30 a.m. | Front Entrance Flag Poles
Join us as we raise the Treaty 6, Treaty 7, and Métis flags in honour of Truth and Reconciliation.
September 28 | Bannock Tacos

Come together over a warm meal and open conversation about Truth and Reconciliation and what it means to you.

A reminder that National Day of Truth and Reconciliation is on September 30 and RDP campus is closed to commemorate the day. On September 28 (Monday), in recognition of National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, RDP Indigenous Services will be hosting a flag raising at 9:00 am outside the main entrance and Bannock Tacos at Noon in Cenovus Energy Learning Common - Staff, Faculty and Students are encouraged to join. A new academic year is here, and we have lots happening throughout September! Whether you’re looking to connect with community, build your academic skills, learn something new, or simply spend some time in the Indigenous Student Centre, we’d love to have you join us.

Start the year in a good way with a Welcome Smudge, refreshments, swag bags, door prizes, and a chance to meet the Indigenous Services team and connect with other students!
📚 September 22 | Lunch & Learn: Time Management & Study Skills

Learn practical tips and techniques to strengthen your study habits, manage your time and set yourself up for academic success.
🧡 September 23 | Orange Shirt Day Beading Workshop

Join Beverly Beaverbones for a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn to create your own Orange Shirt Day beaded pin.
🪶 September 24 | Sharing Circle
12–2 PM | Serenity Room (2400)
Join Counsellor Brenda Desjarlais for a traditional, experiential gathering focused on dialogue, sharing, connection and community. All students are welcome to share, listen, or simply be with us. Smudging with sage will occur during the session.

We are also finalizing details for our Truth and Reconciliation programming later this month, including a TRC Flag Raising and Soup & Bannock gathering. Keep an eye on our socials—we’ll be sharing full details soon!

This role is responsible for the strategic, academic, and administrative leadership for prioritizing the infusion of Indigenous epistemologies and ways of knowing across curriculum and service areas.
The position sets the vision and direction for Indigenous education and provides leadership to Red Deer Polytechnic’s institutional response and commitment to decolonization, truth and reconciliation, anti-oppressive education, and the development and organization of services and initiatives that support excellence in post-secondary Indigenous education and the success of Indigenous students at Red Deer Polytechnic.
This position provides leadership as a conduit to many relationships internal and external. From students to Indigenous communities and stakeholders, this position ensures that institutional initiatives and engagement are implemented in a way that supports these communities and the strategic direction.
Red Deer Polytechnic’s main campus is located on Treaty 7, Treaty 6 and Métis ancestral lands. This is where we will strive to honour and transform our relationships with one another.
