Today, September 30th, marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day across Canada.
As mental health professionals, we recognize that true wellness cannot exist without acknowledging our history, truth, and their systemic impact. Today, our team pauses to reflect on the painful history and lasting intergenerational trauma caused by the residential school system in Canada. We wear orange to honor the children who never returned home, the survivors, their families, and the resilience of Indigenous communities.
Reconciliation is an ongoing journey of listening, reflecting, and unlearning. Today and every day, we reaffirm our commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and trauma-informed space for all individuals in our community.
Support Resources:
We know that days of reflection can bring forward heavy emotions, grief, and trauma. If you or someone you know is in need of support today, please know that free and culturally safe resources are available 24/7.
