SO much to say about today but here’s a quick snap from this morning of our guy Myles saying goodbye to the riders as they hit the course!

That’s 2026 Rough Waters Gravel Grind punched 👊

See you in 2027!

***VOLUNTEER WITH US***

Next Saturday (October 3, 2026) we are looking for volunteers to man rest stops as well as help us check in riders at the finish line of the Rough Waters Gravel Grind.

We'll need about 6-10 people covering a few shifts throughout the day in Hughes' Brook are, Pasadena and Deer Lake!

If you think you can lend us a couple hours of your time, please let us know! Email [email protected] or DM this page. Or, if you know us, drop a text.

When it comes to the Rough Waters Gravel Grind we love to accept any and everyone, but the sooner we know who's coming the better!

Registration is open again for another day (EOD Sept 15th) for any stragglers. After this we need to get our orders in with vendors. We do love this ride and will take some last minute regs on request, but past this point can't guarantee perks.

If you were on the fence, now is the time!

Motorists: This weekend, the BonRexton Granfondo is back on the Bonavista Peninsula!

For the safety of riders as well as yourselves, here are a few helpful tips on how to interact with cyclists during a mass ride such as this, but every day as well.

As per the Newfoundland and Labrador High Way Traffic Act, wait until it is safe to pass and then do so with at least 1m (1.5m when the speed limit is above 60kph). When there is no oncoming traffic, you can do so by crossing the yellow centre line -- again, when it is safe to do so. It is not advisable to pass on corners or hills when you can not see what's coming. The 30 seconds or a minute wait where necessary won't ruin your day, but it could save a life!

Please to NOT honk. We know you're there and the honk will be more startling than helpful.

Just because we're on a pedal bike doesn't mean we're going slow. Our riders will be going faster than you think! Especially in instances with a tailwind pushing them, medium level to faster riders could be going upward of 25kph-35kph+, or 60kph+ on downhill. If you are passing to then turn off on the right side of the road into a road or parking lot, maybe wait instead and turn off behind us. This measure will mitigate the risk of accidentally cutting us off, and potentially save your vehicle from a T-bone!

These few small steps will be a big help with making sure our riders are nice and safe on their ride, and that everyone gets back to Port Rexton Brewing at the end of the day!

We are looking for a couple of volunteers to fill key roles this Saturday, in particular rest stop coverage on Route 230 for 100km riders returning from Bonavista, and Route 235 supporting 160km riders between Bonavista and !

We could also use some help with rider checkin this Friday evening at .

Those are the needs, and everyone else we can get on board is gravy! Support with route cleanup after the ride would also be greatly appreciated.

Email [email protected] if you're available and we'll be in touch.

Registration deadline EXTENDED for the Rough Waters Gravel Grind. Originally set for this coming September 3rd, we've set it back to Saturday September 12th.

Don't delay, though! The sooner we know numbers, the easier it is to work with our vendors and partners.

See here for registration details: https://upliftercycling.com/ #!/events/rough-waters-gravel-grind-2026 and if you're seeing this on IG, the link is in our bio.
