Today, we stand in remembrance of all those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. We honour the victims, survivors, and the families forever impacted by this tragedy. We also pay tribute to the 343 firefighters, along with the many police officers, paramedics, and emergency personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.

Their courage, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to duty continue to inspire first responders worldwide. We will never forget.

🚸 Only One Week Until School Starts! πŸ“šπŸšŒ

With students heading back to school soon, we'll be seeing more traffic on our roads, sidewalks, and at bus stops. Let's work together to keep everyone safe during the busy back-to-school season.

βœ… Watch for children and other pedestrians, especially near schools, crosswalks, playgrounds, and bus stops.

βœ… Slow down and obey all posted school zone speed limits.

βœ… Be alert for flashing lights and stop arms on school buses and stop when required.

βœ… Put distractions away. A few seconds of inattention can have serious consequences.

βœ… Expect the unexpected. Children may enter the roadway suddenly or cross where you don't expect them.

βœ… Allow yourself extra travel time during morning and afternoon school drop-off and pick-up periods.

βœ… If you're walking or cycling, use designated crossings, stay visible, and follow traffic signals.

As the new school year begins, patience, awareness, and caution can make all the difference. Let's help ensure every student gets to and from school safely.

Our crews at Station 1 and Station 2 participated in a time-honored fire service tradition as they officially welcomed our new apparatus into service.

The fire truck push-in ceremony dates back to the 1800s when firefighters relied on horse-drawn equipment. After returning from a call, horses would be unharnessed and firefighters would manually push the apparatus back into the station. While modern fire engines no longer require this, the tradition lives on as a way to honor our history and celebrate the arrival of new life-saving equipment.

We are proud to officially push in our new Engine 1 at Station 1 and Rescue 2 at Station 2. These vehicles represent our continued commitment to providing the highest level of service to our community.
