Prayer of Saint Francis for Animals
God our Heavenly Father, you created the world to serve
humanity’s needs and to lead them to you. By our own fault
we have lost the beautiful relationship which we once had
with all your creation. Help us to see that by restoring our
relationship with you we will also restore it with all your
creation. Give us the grace to see all animals as gifts from
you and to treat them with respect for they are your
creation. We pray for all animals who are suffering as a result
of our neglect. May the order you originally established be
once again restored to the whole world through the merits
and mediation of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives
and reigns with you now and forever. Amen.

Moment of Remembrance
O Lord, we pause and give thanks for the memories of those
pets we have lost. We remember with thanksgiving the ways
in which they enriched our lives. We pray for the owners
who continue to mourn their loss.
Amen. (Resources: Resources: Prayers from The Episcopal Church Occasional Services & Church of St. John the Baptist, Clontarf, Ireland.)

Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and it is also Orange Shirt Day.

Today, we have an opportunity to listen, to learn, and to reflect of the truth of our history. https://www.anglican.ca/reconciliation/residential-schools-history/
https://bc.anglican.ca/programs/reconciliation-beyond/pages/our-residential-schools-history

"For us as Anglicans, reconciliation must begin with truth. We acknowledge and lament the Church's participation in the residential school system, and we admit that colonial structures within the Church harmed Indigenous peoples, cultures, languages, and spiritual traditions. In Christ, we have been entrusted with the ministry of reconciliation, but reconciliation cannot be separated from repentance, justice, accountability, and the patient work of rebuilding relationships... I call us to move beyond words and land acknowledgements toward faithful action. Let us listen humbly to Survivors, Elders, and Indigenous communities; learn the truth about our history; support Indigenous ministries; respond to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action; and build relationships grounded in dignity, respect, and mutuality....Reconciliation is not the work of one day, but a lifelong commitment to walking together in humility, justice, and hope." - Bishop Naboth Manzongo, Diocese of Rupert's Land
