Recovery is a journey, and no one should have to walk it alone. 💙
Today, we’re sharing one person’s story of resilience, second chances, and finding hope again. From facing life-threatening challenges to building a life filled with new possibilities, their journey reminds us that recovery is possible, even when the road gets difficult.
At Fraser Valley Addictions & Recovery Hub, we believe in the power of connection, compassion, and community. Every step forward matters, and every new beginning deserves support.
Thank you to everyone who helps make recovery possible.

Today, Fraser Valley Addictions & Recovery Hub recognizes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
We honour the children who never returned home from residential schools, Survivors, and the families and communities who continue to carry their stories and experiences.
Our work in Maple Ridge takes place on the traditional and unceded territories of the Katzie and Kwantlen peoples. We acknowledge the enduring presence, history, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous peoples in this community and across Canada.
Today is a day to listen, learn, remember, and reflect on our responsibility toward truth and reconciliation.

A big thank you to Talitha Koum Society for spending time with our team at the Fraser Valley Addictions & Recovery Hub! 💚
We loved connecting with Kim, Program Director, and learning more about the incredible work Talitha Koum does to support women on their recovery journeys.
Talitha Koum provides women with a safe, supportive environment where they can work toward addiction-free lives while building confidence, life skills, healthy routines, and a stronger foundation for the future.
We’re excited about the possibilities that come from connecting organizations and creating stronger pathways of support for our community 💙

Legal does not mean risk-free, and natural does not always mean harmless.
Cannabis, alcohol, prescription medications, and natural remedies may each have a purpose. However, their effects can vary depending on the amount used, a person’s health, medications, age, tolerance, environment, and frequency of use.
Before using any substance, take time to understand:
• The dosage and expected effects
• Possible medication or substance interactions
• How it may affect your judgment, mood, memory, and sleep
• Whether your tolerance or frequency of use is increasing
• Whether it is affecting your health, responsibilities, finances, or relationships
Legalization supports regulation, education, and informed access—it does not eliminate risk.
Education is not about judgment or taking away personal choice. It is about helping people understand their bodies, recognize potential harms, and make informed decisions.
Know your limits. Avoid mixing substances. Never drive while impaired. Speak with a healthcare professional when you are unsure.

Maya met him three weeks after she got into recovery. He was kind, funny, and understood things she had never been able to explain to anyone else. When she had a hard day, he was the first person she called. Soon, he was the only person she called.
At first, they talked about getting better together. Then one of them missed a treatment appointment to be with the other. They stopped going to their groups. Maya spent her rent money helping him through a rough week, and he promised he would help her make it back. They loved each other, but when one of them was struggling, the other got pulled in too.
After an argument, he relapsed. Maya went looking for him and found him barely breathing. She gave him naloxone and called for help. He survived. Someone they both knew had died from a poisoned drug supply the month before, and for a while, the fear of that night made them both want to change.
But fear didn’t give them a plan. They got back together, and within weeks Maya had stopped taking care of herself again. When she relapsed, she was alone. She woke up in the hospital with no memory of how she got there.
A beautiful day of hope, connection, and community at Fraser Valley Recovery Day. 💙
We were grateful to connect with so many individuals, families, service providers, and community members who believe that recovery is possible. Every conversation helps reduce stigma and reminds people that they do not have to walk this journey alone.
