Loading some of Jasmine Rose tea bowls into the kiln, they are quite lovely. These are cone 10 pieces. I'm looking forward to seeing how Jasmine glazes them. β€οΈπ¦ππ©

One never knows what a day will bring. Yesterday I received an email from someone in Oregon that had bought a piece of mine at an estate sale and was wondering if it was made by me as there was no signature or information with the piece. My first thought was that the original clay base must have got broken and someone had fashioned a wooden one for it.
Then, all of a sudden, I remembered a man, many years ago, maybe the late 90βs asking if he could buy an unmounted chalice that I had in the studio and make a wooden base for it. I recall he said he would make it the exact shape and size that I would have made out of clay. It was an unusual request but he was very earnest and so I sold it to him.
Definitely the only one like it and the finish is my lithium compound, raku fired. β€οΈπ¦

This week at the potteryβ€οΈ As usual there were much goings on π€ͺ A bisque firing was unloaded, bowls were made, pots were photographed and packed for shipping, cappuccino breaks enjoyed on the balcony, winter pansies were planted and Amy π© decided she is too old to eat out of her dish. Amy is in her final chapter and so if I need to hand feed her so be it. I am officially her bitch π€. Many thanks to Marsh StevensforLadysmith for coming to our rescue when the door handle broke leaving us with no way to close the door other than locking it! That was a bit stressful π¬, oh, and Lil Sid, well he took it all in stride. β€οΈπ¦ππ©

It's been a busy September here π. I'm saying goodbye to one of my favorite chalices, it will be heading off to Croatia. The folks at the Old Town Bakery will miss it as it has been on display there for quite a while. I'm also parting with my latest canoe, it is going to Ontario to join quite a few of my pieces at a collector's home. I should be packing but I felt the siren call of the wheel and decided to throw some earthenware bowls. Amy, π© has been unwell and not eating for the last few days but today she has eaten a bit and was her good old self. I know her days are numbered and each time she has a bad patch I wonder if this is it, but, much like her owner, she rises like a phoenix again. πβ€οΈπ¦ the teapots are by Jasmine Rose and the upside down bowl is an experiment that will be in the next cone 10 firing. I am going to see what a fine dusting of glaze over the black sigillata will look like. Always playing.

As some of you will know, I have been having more health challenges this past while. It never ceases to amaze me how much I still manage to accomplish through it all. This week some more porcelain Buddha bowls were thrown and my new assistant Jasmine Rose started working here. I sold 3 favorite pieces, each one of them hard to part with but pleased by how they will be loved and cared for in their new homes. Had many visiting potters and a special visit with potter Wei where we talked about Legacy-studios, pots and more. The low light of the week? Finding a dessicated rat left on my kitchen floor, a gift from Sid πβ€οΈπ¦π©π

WOW, I remember making a few canisters with labels for people that asked but had forgotten about this one. Me at age 19, crazy that Iβve been making my living as a potter since I was that age. WOW β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈπ¦

I hosted a Gratitude dinner party recently as I wanted to thank some of the many people that help me in myriad ways. Luke Griffin blew us away with amazing food, beautifully plated. This week as I'm throwing I find myself thinking more about how these dishes I'm creating will display the food. Beauty is everywhere β₯οΈ Angelika McLenan Amy-Louise Brassington
