October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.
This is a topic that I believe deserves so much more space to be talked about.
Pregnancy and infant loss can be an incredibly isolating experience. So many women carry a grief that others may never see. They may return to work, continue caring for their families, attend appointments, answer a simple question like “how are you” while grieving the loss.
There can be so much silence surrounding pregnancy loss. But the fact that it happens often does not make the loss any less significant. A baby was hoped for, loved, imagined, and already had a place in someone’s heart.
If you have experienced pregnancy or infant loss, please know that your grief is valid. You don’t have to minimize it because someone else doesn’t understand it. You don’t have to “move on” simply because time has passed. And you don’t have to grieve alone.
This month, I hope we can create a little more space for these conversations.
For remembering.
For grieving.
For sharing.
For listening.
To the women who have experienced this loss: I see you. Your baby mattered. Your grief matters. And your story matters. 🤍

You can be angry.
You can be sad.
You can feel overwhelmed.
You can need space.
You can cry.
Sometimes we just know we feel bad, off, or overwhelmed..
Try getting more specific:
“I’m frustrated.”
“I’m disappointed.”
“I’m anxious.”
“I’m lonely.”
“I’m feeling rejected.”
“I’m overwhelmed.”
Putting words to what you’re experiencing can create a little more space between feeling the emotion and reacting to it.
Regulation isn’t the absence of emotion.
It’s learning how to move through emotion without letting it completely take over.
You don’t have to make the feeling disappear.
You just have to start by noticing it.

Therapy isn’t only for when something is wrong.
You can go to therapy when you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, uncertain—or simply when you want to understand yourself better.
You don’t need to be in crisis to deserve support.
Sometimes therapy is about healing.
Sometimes it’s about growing.
Sometimes it’s simply about having a space that’s yours.
You don’t need a problem to benefit from therapy.

A little something I’ve been working on behind the scenes - thank you to The Waves Company (formerly Waves Marketing) 🤍
I’m SO excited to finally share my new website and the next chapter of HQ Therapy.
HQ Therapy was created to be a space that feels warm, genuine, and grounded — a place where you can come as you are, feel understood, and work through whatever season of life you’re in.
My hope is that this space reflects the way I practice therapy: with curiosity, compassion, and without judgment.
I’d love for you to take a look around.

We’re often so much kinder to the people around us than we are to ourselves.
We can see their strength, their effort, their growth and their worth — yet struggle to recognize those same things in ourselves.
Maybe it’s time to start talking to yourself with the same compassion you so freely give to others. 🤍
What would change if you spoke to yourself a little more kindly?

A seasonal shift is happening. 🍂
And sometimes, we feel it internally before we can put words to it.
As the days change, routines shift, and summer slowly comes to an end, you may notice yourself feeling a little different too.
Maybe you’re craving more structure.
Maybe you’re feeling unsettled by change.
Maybe you’re grieving what this season held.
Maybe you’re ready for a fresh start.
There’s no “right” way to move through a transition.
Therapy can be a space to slow down, notice what’s shifting, and make room for whatever this next season brings.

Counselling is about more than simply seeing clients.
As therapists, we’re continually learning, growing, and expanding our knowledge so we can better understand and support the people who trust us with their stories.
While I’m on maternity leave, I’ve been using some of this time to continue my professional development by completing training in perinatal mental health.
This area of practice is especially meaningful to me because the journey into parenthood can bring so many complex emotions and life changes — from fertility challenges and pregnancy, to pregnancy and infant loss, birth, postpartum, and the transition into parenthood.
My hope is to deepen my understanding of these experiences so that I can provide thoughtful, informed, and compassionate support to clients navigating them.
There is always more to learn. And when we know better, we can support our clients better.

A new chapter for HQ Therapy 🤍
Over the past few months, life has looked a little different. I stepped away on maternity leave, welcomed another little one into our family, and gave myself the space to slow down and be present for a season that mattered deeply to me.
And somewhere in that slowing down, HQ Therapy began to evolve, too.
I’m so excited to share a refreshed brand, a new website, and a vision that feels even more aligned with the kind of space I want HQ Therapy to be.
A place that feels steady. Safe. Human.
A place where you don’t have to have everything figured out before you walk through the door.
I’m still easing back into my practice and currently supporting my existing clients as needed, while I settle into this new season of motherhood and work.
Welcome to the new HQ Therapy đź’š

Big thank you to The Waves Company (formerly Waves Marketing) for helping me get this all started!!
Hi, I’m Hayley. 🤍
I’m not just a psychotherapist.
I’m a daughter.
A sister.
A wife.
A mother.
A friend.
And so much more.
I have good days and hard days.
I get overwhelmed.
I laugh until my stomach hurts.
I make mistakes.
I celebrate the little things.
I’m constantly learning about myself and the people around me.
Being a therapist is one part of who I am — but it isn’t all of me.
And maybe that’s one of the things I value most about therapy:
You are never just one thing, either.
You’re allowed to bring your whole, complicated, beautiful, imperfect self into the room. 🤍

New year, new outlook. Sometimes a shift in perspective changes everything
What if we asked ourself “what’s the best that could happen?”
Sometimes growth begins with curiosity instead of fear 🤍
