Progress update!

Look at her go! This BC Housing four-storey build is fully wrapped and weather-tight, with windows installed across every floor and the roof membrane in place.

The bright blue building wrap protects the structure from moisture while still letting it breathe, so the interior trades can keep moving full speed ahead as the weather cools down.

Progress Update: Children's Nature Adventure Park at the BC Wildlife Park!

What a few months it's been! The new playground and splash park are really taking shape, and we couldn't be prouder of how it's coming together.

The forest-themed play structure is up, the timber shelters are standing tall, and the splash pad area is now surrounded by a beautiful fence that brings colour and life to the space.

A project like this takes a whole community, and we want to give a huge shout out to the amazing team making it happen:

We are hiring for a Junior Construction Coordinator

We're looking for someone who wants to build a career, not just collect a paycheque.

Plainsman Builders is a locally owned and operated construction and development company that's been building award-winning projects in Kamloops for over 55 years.

We're a lean, hardworking team building exciting residential and commercial projects across Central BC. We don't have layers of management, and we don't believe in making simple things complicated.

We're looking for a Junior Construction Coordinator who wants to roll up their sleeves, learn the business, and become an important part of our team.

You'll work directly with our Construction Managers and company partners, helping keep our projects organized, on schedule, and moving forward.
One day you might be working on drawings, RFIs, scheduling, or estimating. The next, you could be coordinating trades, solving a problem on site, or helping get a project across the finish line.

You'll work primarily from our Kamloops office, with occasional visits to active construction sites.

We don't expect you to know everything. We do expect you to be willing to learn, ask questions, and take responsibility for your work.

We're looking for someone who:
• Lives in Kamloops or is serious about making Kamloops home. (Please no out-of-province applications - we are local-focused and you will not be considered)
• Shows up, works hard, and follows through on commitments.
• Is organized, pays attention to detail, and takes pride in getting things right.
• Can take direction but doesn't need someone looking over their shoulder all day.
• Isn't afraid to pick up the phone, ask questions, or figure things out.
• Understands that construction has deadlines, and sometimes getting the job done means coming in early or staying late.
• Wants to learn, improve, and build a long-term career in construction.
• A construction-related diploma, degree, trade background, or some practical construction experience would be ideal. Recent graduates are welcome. If you have a masters degree in engineering and are looking at this role as a stepping-stone, then this is likely not the role for you.
• Experience with construction software is an asset, but attitude and work ethic matter more to us.
• A valid driver's licence and reliable transportation are strongly preferred.

Another exciting milestone reached! Our project continues to make great progress, with the wood framing now substantially complete and the building taking shape.

Crews are preparing for the next phase, which includes roofing, exterior building envelope work, and the installation of windows. Inside, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing rough-ins will soon begin as we move closer to enclosing the structure.

FLASHBACK to August 2015 🚧🎰

One of the most ambitious renovation projects we’ve ever completed. The full transformation of a 55,000 sq. ft. former construction supply building into a premier hospitality and entertainment destination for the region.

Completed in just four months, this project required around-the-clock construction, seven days a week, with up to 480 tradespeople onsite daily.

A true testament to teamwork, coordination, and dedication from everyone involved.
