ArtWorks East

A well deserved recognition for our member Moni Duersch! 🎨❤️

During this month's facility highlight, we wanted to say a special thank you to our Art Programmer at Milford Haven, Moni Duersch!
Moni brings creativity and joy to our residents through engaging art activities. She encourages residents to express themselves and to enjoy the fun of creating something together.
Thank you, Moni, for filling our community with colour, creativity and connection.

Have you had a chance to contribute to the Art Trading Board at Cast Away Cafe yet? 🎨

ArtWorks East member Moni Duersch spearheaded this wonderful idea, and she and a few other members will be filling the board with artwork to get things started!

From there, we’re inviting cafe visitors to join in on the fun. The idea is simple: leave a piece of art, take a piece of art, and help creativity travel throughout our community. You never know where a little piece of inspiration might come from!

Here’s a sneak peek at a few pieces you’ll be able to find on the board later this week, including paintings by Joy Wier and a collage by Cairista MacIsaac.

Stop by Cast Away Cafe, check out the board, and consider leaving a little art of your own for someone else to discover. You might just find a new favourite piece to take home! 🖼️

Moni Duersch was down at the Cast Away Cafe today to set up a little project called the Art Trading Board. Create something to leave on the board, and then take a piece of art someone else left! As simple as that. 😊🎨❤️

Moni Duersch was in today setting up a new project at Cast Away Café & Pub called the Art Trading Board!

The idea is simple. Create a small piece of art, add it to the board, and if you see something you love, trade one of your own pieces for it.

All ages, skill levels and types of art are welcome. Whether you paint, draw, carve or just like getting creative, everyone is encouraged to take part.

You don’t have to be an artist. Art only needs the intention of creation.

Leave a piece. Take a piece.

Thanks to Moni for bringing this fun little project to the café. We can’t wait to see what everyone creates!

Head down to the Cast Away Cafe this evening to support a great cause! Chase the Ace is being held in support of our friends at the Guysborough Players and Guysborough Waterfront. ❤️

🎨 We’re busy behind the scenes planning our upcoming workshops!

At ArtWorks East, we’re preparing a new series of creative workshops that will be open to all ages, with a particular focus on encouraging seniors in our community to get involved, explore their creativity, learn new skills, and connect with others through art.

As we begin planning, we want to hear from you! 💭

✨ Are there workshops we’ve offered in the past that you’d love to see return?

✨ Would you be interested in intergenerational workshops, where grandparents and grandchildren can create and learn together, like Kathy Gosbee’s workshop at the Guysborough Arts Festival?

✨ Would you prefer workshops specifically designed for seniors, or activities that bring people of different generations together?

✨ What kinds of creative activities would interest you? Painting, crafts, textiles, mixed media, or something completely different?

Your ideas and feedback will help us shape our upcoming workshops and create meaningful opportunities for people of all ages to connect through creativity, with an emphasis on encouraging seniors in our community to participate.

Drop your suggestions in the comments below! We’d love to hear what you’d like to see at ArtWorks East. ❤️
