Community of Christ in Canada
Community of Christ is an international faith community present in more than 50 countries around the world and established in Canada since the 1830s.
We proclaim Jesus Christ and promote communities of joy, hope, love, and peace. This is the official page of Community of Christ in Canada, serving church members and friends across the country, as well as spiritual seekers around the world. We invite you to learn more about who we are and what we believe, connect with online resources and local congregations, and help contribute to our mission in Canada and beyond.

Eight congregations across Canada invite you to join their online services this week. Participants around the world are welcome to attend. On Beyond the Walls, the global ministry of Community of Christ in Canada, we turn to the vision of Jesus Christ as “a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek” from the Epistle to the Hebrews. What does the order of Melchizedek have to do with Jesus, temple sacrifice, atonement, and salvation? How can the image of Jesus as high priest speak to people who no longer relate to temple sacrifice?

Scripture preserves the voices of apostles, prophets, and others who did not always agree with one another and who spoke from within the limitations of their own time and cultural perspective. These diverse perspectives remind us that scripture is not the inerrant voice of God but a dialogue—one we are invited to join with responsible discernment, guided by our Enduring Principles.

Have you heard about our Dignity Box?
As a congregation, we collect donations of hygiene items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, lotion, underwear, soap, etc. Once these donations fill up our Dignity Box, we give them to community partners, such as Mustard Seed and the Calgary Food Bank, to disperse locally where needed most.
We believe this ministry is our way of embodying the Community of Christ Mission Initiative Abolish Poverty, End Suffering and the Enduring Principle Worth of All Persons, as we seek to restore dignity to others by providing access to these basic essentials.
If you’d like to support our Dignity Box, please feel free to bring donations to our building on Sunday mornings. Please be sure to check our Facebook to ensure we are meeting in person before stopping by!

“I have numerous tattoos and piercings as well as bleachy highlighted hair. I wondered if this might be a hindrance for me to give a faithful presentation to the group? I needn’t have worried. Everyone was welcoming, warm and interested in talking to Miriam and I from the start.” Here’s what happened when Mary, newly graduated from seminary, risked something new and agreed to serve as guest minister at a camp she had never been to.
🎥 NOW LIVE 🎥 Who or what is God? God is not a super-human being or divine warrior. Instead, God is love, and this truth was revealed through Jesus Christ, who commanded us to “love one another”; indeed, God abides in those who love, and they have nothing to fear. That is the view of 1 John 4:7–21.
Many of us envision God as a father in heaven; others envision a heavenly mother or a heavenly parent. The First Epistle of John invites us to envision God as Love for Love’s sake — Love itself as an archetype. As we read this text, we are reminded that ancient prophets and apostles could hold sophisticated understandings of the divine. Today we reflect on this scripture, considering how God is revealed in our world today through genuine and tangible expressions of love.
We invite you to share this moment with our global community 🌏
