🍁 Flannels, Friends & Fall FUN in the Park! 🍁
Gambo Public Library invites you to join us for an afternoon of FALL FUN at David Smallwood Park (Overflow Area) on Sunday, September 27th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Everything at this event is completely FREE! We have designed our activities so that attendees of all ages—from toddlers to grandparents—can join in on the festive fun.

Here is what we have planned for the afternoon:
• Hayrides: Sit back, relax, and take in the beautiful fall foliage at David Smallwood Park. A classic autumn tradition that everyone can enjoy together.

• Campfires: Gather around the fire to roast some wieners and marshmallows! We will also be serving up delicious hot chocolate to enjoy while you chat with neighbors.

• Scavenger Hunt: Team up or go solo! Explore the park surroundings to solve clues and find hidden seasonal treasures. Everyone who completes the hunt will be rewarded with a sweet treat.

• Pine Cone Races: A little friendly, fast-paced competition! Adults and children can join in the fun!

• Fall Craft – Leaf Rubbing: Create a beautiful keepsake using real fallen leaves, you can capture the intricate textures of autumn. This simple, artistic activity is deeply relaxing for adults and a wonderful sensory experience for children.

🚗 General Parking:
All general attendees are asked to park outside the main gate. This keeps the inner overflow area clear, safe, and open for the campfires, scavenger hunts, and active game areas.
♿ Accessibility Exceptions:
Exceptions will absolutely be made for individuals with mobility issues. If you or a family member require closer access, you are more than welcome to drive through the main gate to park closer to the overflow area.

Transform your choice of vase into a beautiful, functional piece for your home. We'll be creating stunning patterned vases that are as useful as they are lovely! They are perfect for holding fresh flowers, organizing your kitchen utensils, neatly storing makeup brushes, or tidying up pens on your desk.

Library Social is Back! ☕

Looking for a cozy spot to craft, chat, and connect? Our Library Social (18+) is starting back up this Thursday, September 10th at 1:00 PM! Bring along your current project—whether you are knitting, sewing, or working on another craft. Don't have a project? No problem! We have adult coloring books, puzzles, and word searches available for you to enjoy. You are also more than welcome to just come by to socialize, enjoy a tea or coffee, and enjoy some great conversation.

🧸📚 Romp, Read & Rhyme Time 🎶✨

We are so excited to welcome our little learners back to the Gambo Public Library for a weekly hour of fun, imagination, and community. A huge thank you to all the parents and guardians who shared their wonderful feedback and input! Thanks to you, we have refreshed our Storytime format for this year to better serve your little ones.

When: Every Wednesday
Time: 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM
Who: Children 5 and under (accompanied by a parent/guardian)
Registration: Not required! Just drop in when you can.

What to Expect: We have structured our hour together into two fun-filled parts: First part(Free Play): Exploration and creativity at a variety of hands-on stations, featuring activities like Play-Doh, LEGO, and more! Second part (Story & Music): Gathering together for a short interactive story, followed by lively songs, rhymes, and movement.

Come out to socialize, play, and build early literacy skills in a relaxed, welcoming environment. We can't wait to see you and your little ones for Romp, Read & Rhyme Time!🧸📚🎶✨

“Make Your Mark”, pass kindness on!✨

In celebration of International DOT DAY on September 15th, the library is participating with the theme "Make Your Mark." As part of our ongoing Kindness Project initiative, we are excited to launch a special Kindness Contest running for 1 week from Friday, September 11th to Friday, September 18th.

Joining is simple:
1. Capture a photo participating in an act of kindness. This could be anything from helping someone carry groceries to their car, picking up litter on your street, helping a neighbour, or lending a hand to a local community group or organization.

2. Submit your picture along with a short caption describing your act of kindness to enter the contest draw. Contest is open to individuals 18 years of age and under. Submit via Gambo Public Library page or email [email protected]

The prize draw will take place on Friday, September 18th!

We will be choosing 4 lucky winners!

Each winner will receive a prize pack featuring a library travel bag, a water bottle, and an Xheight pass!

Show us how you can “Make your Mark” in your community. We cannot wait to see all of your amazing acts of kindness!

✨After School Program (ASP) is starting up again!

This year, things are going to look a little different. To make sure everyone has the best experience, we are splitting into two separate After School Programs based on age.

Newfoundland and Labrador Public Libraries (NLPL) policy states that children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a legal guardian while visiting the library. Because of this, our location will be different for each group:

🎨 Group 1: Kindergarten to age 9
Where: Smallwood Academy Library
When: Wednesdays from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Frequency: Aiming for 2–3 sessions a month
Forms: Permission forms will be sent home from Smallwood Academy in the coming days.
Registration: Registration is required for each individual session. Registration will be posted on Gambo Public Library page on the Tuesday morning (at 9:30 AM) right before that Wednesday program.

🚀 Group 2: Ages 10 and Up
Where: Gambo Public Library
When: Thursdays from 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Frequency: Aiming for 2–3 sessions a month
Registration: Registration is required for each individual session. Registration will be posted on Gambo Public Library page on the Wednesday morning (at 9:30 AM) right before that Thursday program.

📚✨ STORYTIME IS STARTING UP AGAIN! ✨📚

We’re excited to welcome everyone back for another season of Storytime! 💛

For our first Storytime, we’re going to keep things relaxed and use it as an opportunity for everyone to get to know each other, make some new friends and get comfortable in our Storytime space. 🧸❤️

We’ll have some free play, along with perhaps a story or two and a few songs mixed in. 🎶📖

This Wednesday at 10:30, we’d also love to hear from our parents and guardians, about what format you would prefer for your children going forward.

Would you like Storytime to be:

🧩 Free Play Style – time to explore, play, socialize and enjoy stories and songs at a relaxed pace.

📚 Structured Style – a more planned program with a story, songs, activities, crafts and other themed activities.

Your feedback will help us create a Storytime that works best for the children and families who attend! 💕
