This week’s FSJoy Recap, brought to you by KMSC Law LLP:
Story 1:
After making an anonymous post on Facebook asking for help finding basic household items that they couldn’t afford, a Fort St John resident got exactly what they needed. The user made the post as a last resort, asking for help with dog food, baby formula, a vacuum and a clean mattress. In a heartwarming turn, residents of Fort St John rallied together in the comments, offering up the items they needed.
Story 2:
A user on Facebook posted in a local Facebook group to thank an anonymous man who helped brighten their day. According to the user, the man had came in and paid for their kids’ slushies at the Circle K before they could even realize what was happening. The user made the post, giving their thanks to the man for the kind gesture.
Story 3:
Tourmaline Oil recently made a donation to the Women’s Resource Society of over $29,000. The donation was made following the Tourmaline golf tournament, which sets out to donate proceeds towards organizations in the community. After last year’s golf tournament, Tourmaline made a donation of around $17,000 to the Women’s Resource Society.
The funds give the society the flexibility it needs to keep programs and services running.
Story 4:
A Fort St. John resident passed along her feel good, coffee shop story this week. While grabbing her morning coffee from Bean UpNorth, she’d held the door for the stranger behind them only to discover it wasn’t a stranger at all. The person turned out to be a beloved high school science teacher of hers, and despite not seeing each other for around a decade, they remembered each other. The two caught up, and her teacher bought her breakfast. She says it was a beautifully nostalgic start to her morning.
Story 5:
The Fort St John community stepped up this week to help a senior who was going through a rough time. Following a Facebook post putting out a call for help and stating the senior had been without running water since January, members from all over the community stepped up. Residents brought cash for rent, purchased and installed a new water tank and gifted them gift cards.
The post specifically thanked Claude with ProNorth for installing the water tank free of charge, Darren from Elite Laundry for purchasing the water tank, Joro Consulting for paying a significant amount of the rent and Untethered Flow and Twin Flame for purchasing the gift cards.
