Sun Country Hearing

Hearing changes can happen gradually, which is why many people do not notice them right away. Establishing a baseline hearing test allows hearing professionals to monitor changes over time and recommend care if needed.
The evaluation itself is simple, comfortable, and provides valuable insight into how well your ears and brain process sound. If you have never had your hearing tested before, it may be the perfect time to start.

It's Fun Fact Friday!
If you've ever felt a jolt of vertigo or felt a bit wobbly, you might have an inner ear infection. Your inner ears are full of fluid that moves around to signal to your brain that you are moving. This fluid can also tell your brain whether you're sitting up, leaning back, lying down, or whether your head is looking straight ahead, up or down.

In industries like oilfield work, construction, or farming, noise exposure can be a daily part of the job. Over time, repeated exposure to loud equipment and machinery can affect hearing health. Wearing proper hearing protection and monitoring hearing regularly are important ways to reduce long-term risk. Protecting hearing today helps preserve conversations, music, and everyday sounds for years to come.

Usually, individuals do not seek out a hearing assessment until a hearing problem is noticed. For example, his/her spouse complaining about the TV being too loud, or difficulty understanding speech in background noise. Although testing at that time is recommended, a baseline is also a recommended starting point so that change in hearing can be determined.
1. Anyone working in the presence of excessive noise (85 dBA) should have an annual threshold check.
2. An assessment around the age of 50 will help determine a progressive hearing loss in the future.
3. A sudden shift in hearing acuity requires a hearing test within 48 hours.
4. Additional testing may be recommended by your hearing care provider depending on case history and audiometric results. Once hearing loss or tinnitus is determined, annual testing is recommended.

Restaurants are full of laughter, conversation, and background noise. Sometimes it can feel harder than it used to be to keep up with the discussion at your table.
Many people first notice hearing changes in these environments where voices compete with surrounding sounds 👂
Do you ever find yourself leaning closer or asking people to repeat themselves at restaurants? If that sounds familiar, it might be time to check your hearing.
