Functional Nature
Functional movement and yoga education, functional nutrition, and nature connection
Healthy living is a state of mind… it’s what you eat, how you approach food, what you do to create balance in your life, and what you do that ultimately “feeds” your body. Developing a mindful eating practice can provide a platform that truly supports and nurtures your yoga or wellness routine. To "Fuel Awesome" is about making choices to live in a health conscious manner. This means being intentional, proactive and taking a holistic approach to your health and view on life in general. What you do for your body, and the food you fuel it with, impact you on so many levels. It is Lindsey's mission to provide you with the knowledge and access to ingredients and movement tips that are delicious for mind, body, and soul.

The last Sunday of each month at Star 6 🌿
Join me this weekend for an hour of movement, breath, and a little space to slow down and reconnect.
If the weather cooperates, we’ll practice outside by the river. If not, we’ll settle in by the fire... which isn’t a bad Plan B. 🔥

Come as you are. No experience needed.

One of the things I find most interesting about midlife isn’t necessarily how our bodies change.
It’s how quickly we’re taught to explain those changes with **age**.
A stiff morning.
A cranky hip.
A little less ease getting off the floor.
“Well… I guess this is what happens now.”
Maybe. But that’s rarely the whole story.
Our bodies are adaptable at every age. And what we feel today is influenced by what we’ve been doing lately and not simply the number of birthdays we’ve had.
That’s especially worth remembering as we move from the loose rhythm of summer back into fall routines.
Rather than immediately asking “What’s wrong with me?”, I think there are more useful questions:
What has changed recently?
Have I been moving differently?
Am I recovering differently?
Does this sensation change once I start moving?
That last question is particularly useful.
Because the way a sensation **responds** can sometimes tell us more than the sensation itself.
And I’m curious about this one: Do you feel stiffer when you first get up than you do 20 minutes later? **👇**
This is also the kind of thinking I want to cultivate inside the Aligned Wellness Collective.
The workouts matter... but I don’t want you simply following workouts.
I want you getting stronger while also becoming more confident understanding your body, adapting when life changes, and knowing when to push, when to modify, and when something deserves more attention.
If you’ve been curious about the Collective, reach out to me. I’m always happy to chat about where you’re at and whether it would be a good fit.
Yes, I had to speed myself up so the algorithm might like me better. 🫠
The irony is not lost on me.
Because apparently being thoughtful, reflective and taking a second to finish a thought isn’t particularly optimized for Instagram.
And these are the games we play when we’re trying to be real in a very loud space.
I’m not particularly jazzy.
I don’t want to manufacture outrage.
I don’t want to tell you that everything you’ve been doing is wrong so I can sell you the solution.
And I definitely don’t have “the ONE thing every woman over 40 needs to do.”
What I do want to do is have nuanced conversations.
To acknowledge that physiology changes AND that you don’t need to reinvent your entire life because you’re in perimenopause.
To talk about strength, nutrition, nervous system health, recovery and movement without turning every one of them into another problem you need to fix.
To say “it depends” when it actually depends.
And sometimes to take longer than 90 seconds to explain why. 😜
Maybe that isn’t the easiest way to stand out in a saturated wellness space.
But I don’t really want to become louder just to compete with the noise.
I’d rather become a voice you trust within it.
And that’s really what I’m trying to build with the Aligned Wellness Collective too.
Not another place asking you to optimize everything.
A place for thoughtful women to learn, get stronger, ask better questions, and make sense of their health together.
Even if apparently I have to say it at 1.2x speed. 🫠
