🚨🚨Fire Safety Giveaway!!🚨🚨
When we go out into our community to talk about fire safety with students and families we find one common theme. Either families don’t have smoke alarms, they don’t have carbon monoxide alarms or they don’t work. That’s a concern for our department as these devices save lives.
We have partnered with Lake Country Coop in Birch Hills to provide 5 families in the area that we service with a free smoke detector and carbon monoxide alarm!
How do you get one? Simply like and comment on this post and we will pick 5 families on October 26 2026 to receive both a free smoke detector and carbon monoxide alarm!
We ask that families that do not have either one or both of these types of alarms in their home enter only.

On October 8th 2026 at 08:42 BHFD was dispatched to a vehicle in water in the Rural Municipality of Birch Hills. Upon arrival crews located a tow truck removing a vehicle from a slough. Crews learned that the vehicle had entered the water prior and the owner had exited the vehicle safely but had not called. Crews took information and returned to service at 09:25.
A reminder that if in the event of an accident there is injuries and or either vehicle is not drivable you must file a police report. This prevents a call from someone else after resulting in additional resources being dispatched.

Did you know that it’s the law to have working smoke alarms and Carbon monoxide alarms in your home?
Under Saskatchewan's Building Code Regulations and The Construction Codes Act, all residential homes and buildings with sleeping rooms must have working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms by law. This applies to all properties regardless of when the building was constructed.
Additionally under “Henry’s Law” all landlords, building owners, condominium boards etc are required to install Carbon Monoxide Alarms in suites or buildings regardless of age. This law takes effect November 1st 2026.
Please remember that Smoke Alarms and Carbon Monoxide Alarms protect you and your family from tragedy! Seconds matter in fires and carbon monoxide leaks.
07/31/2026
As of November 1, Saskatchewan building owners are responsible for ensuring carbon monoxide (CO) alarms are installed, maintained and tested in each residential suite or unit.
Take action now to protect residents and ensure compliance with safety requirements. https://bit.ly/4x0gLhD
