As part of our National Day for Truth and Reconciliation event on September 30, we invite you to the Jasper Activity Centre Multi-Purpose Hall for a special screening of Secret Path.

Created by Gord Downie and Jeff Lemire, Secret Path tells the poignant story of Chanie Wenjack, a twelve-year-old Anishinaabe boy who died in 1966 while attempting to escape the Cecilia Jeffrey Indian Residential School and return home to his family. Through powerful music and vivid animation, this acclaimed animated film honours Chanie and reflects on the lasting harms of the residential school system and their impacts across generations.

Viewing Indigenous stories like Secret Path offers an impactful opportunity to reflect on our shared history and support the path toward truth and reconciliation.

📍 Main event: Commemoration Park (324 Pyramid Lake Road) from 1 to 3:45 pm

🌻 Visit the outdoor children's activity table from 1 to 4 pm

🎥 Before The Secret Path screening, enjoy a selection of short films suitable for younger audiences (all ages), starting at 3:45 pm

🎥 Secret Path film screening: Jasper Activity Centre Multi-Purpose Hall (303 Bonhomme Street) from 4 to 5 pm
