I think we can safely assume Maximus is homozygous for white!! Up to 8 calves now. As I stand out in the field, I should be up to 10 by tomorrow.

Well it was a rotten day today with one calving, so will stick to the positive one. Calf number 3 of the crosses is also white, so down to a 12.5% chance that Maximus carries black. Don’t think I’ll worry about registering the F1 crosses, will start with the F2s. Going to name her Purity.

The most dangerous period of time is over, as now the girls have bonded to each other. It’s much easier for mom when they are always together.

I’ve only ever had one cow successfully raise twins all on her own. Dottie has had a couple of girls for me again!! Pic of her daughters from a few years ago. Usually twins ends up with me feeding one of them the bottle.
Cows and humans have twins about 1% of the time, but humans have fraternal twins about 67% of the time, with cattle it’s closer to 90%.
Penny and Poppy are the new WP crosses. Jackie and Jill are now five years old.

Ever have that feeling that you just don’t belong somewhere?

It’s been a darn cold way to start, but this calf born Jan 31, is big, healthy and thriving!! That’s a good reflection of her mother’s abilities, and are obviously good genetics to multiply in the herd.

Just a montage of white park cattle pics. Have to admit they look a bit more majestic with a green background vs all the snow!! The green will come soon enough and hopefully some nice healthy calves will follow.
