Finally some new mugs and a few candlesticks heading to Maritime Mosaic in Amherst today. I have been having kiln issues, so have just ordered a new kiln. I’m in love with the four beach mugs.

Tried something new today, octopus candlesticks. Everything but the tentacles done on the pottery wheel. Now they have to dry. 🐙

Trying something new. Candlesticks! These are still in the drying stage. No glazes or firings yet.

I have ordered a new kiln, so hope to have some things ready to go in about a month.

I’ve got a lot of mugs ready for the kiln, but the kiln is broken. Normally I fix the kiln myself, but I did something this time and blew something in the control panel. I’m looking for a repair person however they are pretty rare. It will likely be a month before I have more ready.

Here is the last batch of the season heading tomorrow to Maritime Mosaic in Amherst. This batch is made with the black (which becomes dark chocolate brown when fired). Included as well are 3 stackable bowls for something different.

New mugs headed to Maritime Mosaic in Amherst tomorrow!

When in Kingston, Ontario this summer I picked up a few boxes of clay. I thought I’d try something different and added one box of black stoneware clay. It totally throws differently than the porcelain I normally use. And a lot messier. Really absorbs far more water than porcelain when on the wheel. Pictured are the beginnings of 4 straight sided soup bowls and 2 mugs. Also not sure how it will react to the glazes I use.

It’s been awhile due to equipment issues, however I have 10 new mugs headed to Maritime Mosaic in downtown Amherst in the next couple of days, with more in the pipeline. I’ve tried some new glazes and techniques and I’m loving them!
