At the farmstand this weekend: Organic strawberries, romaine lettuce, kohlrabi, cilantro, romaine lettuce, mixed greens, radishes, spring onions, bok choi, radish microgreens, eggs and kombucha!

First harvest of the sesson!! Today, we harvested salad greens, radishes and bok choi! Find us at the farmstand Saturday between 9-5 and at the Main Street market in Ottawa from 9-2!

We’ve got organic seedlings and spring veggies at the farmstand and the Ottawa Main Street Market this Saturday! The farmstand will be open from 9-5 and we will be at the market from 9-2 🌱 Our organic seedlings include: Tomatoes, Peppers, Cucumbers, Kale, Lettuce and herbs 🪴

Despite the rain and cold weather last week, the team pulled through and got all the planting done that we had planned - with big smiles! 🌱 Last week’s planting and seeding included lots of onions and shallots, broccolini, herbs, kale, bok choi, beets, carrots, radishes and all kinds of lettuce (of course!)

Today we planted another 500 strawberry plants!! Last year’s planting survived winter with flying colours and we can’t wait for a bountiful harvest all season long! Look for strawberries in our CSA boxes this season 🍓 We still have CSA spots available at our Alta Vista and Farm pickup locations!

It’s been a busy week preparing beds, planting seedlings and seeding direct sown crops like peas, beets and carrots. Although it will take time to see the result of those efforts in the field, our hoophouses are nearly full, crops are growing and greens are a week or two away from being ready for harvest! There are surely a few cold nights ahead but summer is on its way!!

Our first batch of salad greens is in the ground! We’re hoping for a first harvest before the end of May!!

We’ve been laying low this past month, planning, plotting and putting in orders but, today, our shipment of seedling soil arrived, signalling us that our rhythm is about to change! From years past, we know that soon after the soil arrives, the seeds arrive, and once the seeds arrive, it’s only a matter of time before we start putting it all together - and the magic happens! 🤩🌱

It’s hard to imagine, when it’s so cold outside, but we’ll be enjoying fresh, local veggies again before we know it! 🤗🥬🫛🫑🥦🍅🥒❤️
