Tracking Migratory Birds.

The Belize Bird conservancy team is back in the Cattle Landing area for their annual visit, as the migration season for birds gets underway. Over the years, the community has become familiar with seeing the group return as they monitor and document the movement of different bird species through the region. Their work helps track migration patterns as birds make their way through Central and South America.

Turmoil In Cattle Landing Council.

Just a year ago, many were singing the praises of the Cattle Landing Village Council. The football field and the areas under the village’s jurisdiction were always kept clean. Then, suddenly, things seemed to fall apart. Confirmed reports to PGTV indicate that out of the seven members on the village council, three have left. With three of its seven members now gone, questions are mounting over what happened to the once active council and whether it can regain the confidence of the community.

Tropic Air Will Suspend Flight To PG.

Wednesday, September 30th, 2026 news broke that Tropic Air will be completely suspending its scheduled flights to Punta Gorda. Operations are set to cease effective November 1st, 2026. The announcement has sparked concern across Toledo. The Belize Tourism Industry Association’s Toledo Chapter pointing to the wider economic impact of losing air connectivity, not only for tourism, but also for businesses, residents, cargo, medical services, and other sectors that rely on regular air transportation. In response, BTIA Toledo called an emergency stakeholder meeting to discuss the situation, hear from businesses and community stakeholders, and explore possible alternatives and next steps as the October 31st deadline approaches.
