PDEO Visits the School

The school hosted the PDEO for a deliberation on the Education Technology Framework (ETF), an initiative of the STEM Division under the Ministry of Education and Skills Development. The programme was attended by the Principals and teachers of Samcholing MSS, Samcholing PS and Kuengarabten PS.

The session highlighted the evolution of the ETF from the initial Royal Kasho, which paved the way for the National Education Policy, and its alignment with the priorities of the 13th Five-Year Plan. The ETF was presented as a comprehensive guide for the equitable and effective use of technology in teaching and learning.

The PDEO also briefed participants on the stages, principles, components, and competency areas of the framework, along with the standards expected of teachers and students. Information on digital content creation and accessible digital textbooks was also shared.

The schools were encouraged to work collectively towards digital learning by adopting the ETF as a whole-school ecosystem. The PDEO further introduced the Sherig LMS and urged the schools to ensure the proper care and effective use of ICT equipment, particularly laptops.

The session concluded with a renewed emphasis on responsible technology use and collaborative efforts to strengthen digital learning in schools.

Scouts in the Woods Today

The school organized a Scout Hike aimed at providing students with an opportunity to take a break from academic pressure while developing teamwork, comradeship, and practical survival skills.

The program began at 8:30 a.m. with a briefing, during which the participants were provided with necessary instructions and guidance. The school was divided into four groups, comprising students, Leadership Trainers (LTs), and Adult Leaders. The hike officially began at 9:00 a.m., with all four groups dispersing in different directions towards the final destination at Dramedthang.

Upon reaching Dramedthang, a sumptuous meal was prepared for the participants. Before lunch, the students had the opportunity to learn and practise various jungle survival skills, which were demonstrated and presented by the student Leadership Trainers. The activity provided valuable hands-on learning beyond the classroom.

The primary objectives of the hike were to help students temporarily step away from academic pressure, strengthen teamwork and cooperation, foster a sense of comradeship, and develop practical survival skills, particularly those required when staying or travelling in the woods.

The Scout Hike was a great success, with students actively participating and enjoying the experience. The program provided a meaningful combination of recreation, adventure, learning, and team building.
