UGent Data Analytics

Last week, 26 teams of four Business Engineering/Data Analytics students each of Ghent University presented their team work. They were asked to analyze 52 different brands from different sectors (two direct competitors per sector) to determine what drives Instagram post engagement. Below you find screenshots of the online Zoom team presentation of one of the great teams (in this case they analyzed the brands: H&M and ZARA). Congrats to all teams, who put in a lot of work. At today's program committee meeting of Business Engineering, we decided to keep the "Big Data" course ONLINE during 2021-2022. This will facilitate our Data Analytics students to go on Erasmus exchange.

On Tuesday evening, we had our first hybrid lecture (i.e., both an online and on-campus audience; in total 120+ students) in our UGent Auditorium Quetelet for Business Engineering/Data Analytics. This added the nice bonus feature that a Zoom cloud recording of the session is available for later viewing. A big thank you goes to Bart Van Der Vurst and Sacha Dubrulle (both graduates from this program, and now working at the Data Science company Element61) for explaining the details of GitHub to our students so that version control has no secrets anymore (which is a necessity when teams collaborate to develop software code).

Today, the defense of master dissertations by Business Engineering/Data Analytics students came to a close. The students gave a great performance! Congratulations!

Ghent University set up an amazing operation to administer on-campus exams to large groups of students at the Flanders Expo convention center. Kudos to UGent central services!
