11.000 times thank you.
The park is quiet again. The stages are coming down and the weekend is settling into memory. What a three days it was: full of music, sun, and moments that are hard to put into words. 11.000 people joined us in Park Den Brandt this weekend. Thank you for every single one of the countless moments that made this edition unforgettable.
Jazz Middelheim will be back: 15-17 May 2027.
Devastating news after a euphoric weekend. We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Sonny Rollins. One of the greatest saxophonists who ever lived, and a musician whose influence on jazz cannot be overstated.
For us, this news carries a particular weight. In 1973, Sonny Rollins stood on the stage of Jazz Middelheim. The footage, preserved in our archives from a Tienerklanken emission on BRT, shows him at his most free - playing soprano saxophone, an instrument he rarely touched, stretching phrases, spinning long melodic lines, weaving in fragments of other tunes as if the music had no edges. His band matched every step. The performance is a reminder of what jazz, at its best, can be.
We are grateful that Park Den Brandt was once his stage, then two more times in 1977 and 1982. We are grateful these moments were captured. And we are grateful to have spent this past weekend doing exactly what he spent his life doing - bringing people together through music.
Rest in peace, Sonny Rollins. The music remains.
You saved the best for last! Day 3 at Jazz Middelheim was full of swing, full of dancing, full of beautiful people giving it everything for one final day. A perfect end to a perfect weekend ✨
