Assuming a wilted plant needs more water could turn out to be a mistake! While wilting can be a sign of thirst, it can also happen when:

1. Roots are waterlogged
2. The plant is stressed by extreme heat
3. There's root damage or disease

Before reaching for the watering can, check the soil. If it's already damp, more water could make the problem worse!

- Watering at the base of the plant
- Watering early in the morning
- Giving plants a deep soak rather than frequent light sprinkles

This helps roots grow deeper and keeps foliage healthier!

Even a small garden can make a big environmental impact!

Do you use Perlite in your gardening? Perlite is a volcanic glass that is heated to 871C and used to aerate the soil or potting mix.

Perlite is more porous than vermiculite and tends to allow the water to drain more readily so it is more suitable for plants that do not require very moist soils, like cactus or plants which generally thrive in well-draining soil. Perlite is also great for rooting cuttings and fosters much stronger root formation than those grown in water alone.
