Training through pregnancy looks different for everyone 🤰🏽
Over our nine years at CrossFit Bass Coast, we’ve coached dozens of women through pregnancy. That experience has reinforced the importance of coaching the person in front of us. Your training history, how you’re feeling and advice from your care team all help shape the session.
Our hope is that every mama-to-be who walks into our gym feels in control of her training and educated on her choices. Confident to ask questions, speak up and change course as her needs change. Supported by her coach and care team, with her voice at the centre of those decisions. Informed, supported and empowered. Never scared off, never pressured to prove anything.
You don’t have to figure it all out alone. We’re here to talk through your options and adapt the session with you, so you feel supported in the decisions you make.
Swipe through for pregnancy swaps for common CrossFit movements ➡️
Save this for your next session, or share it with a pregnant friend who could use the support.
General guide only, not medical advice or individual clearance. Every pregnancy is different. Consult your doctor or midwife before starting or changing training, and share their recommendations with your coach. Stop exercising and seek medical advice for bleeding, suspected fluid leakage, chest pain, dizziness or faintness, unexplained breathlessness, severe headache, sudden swelling, calf pain or swelling, reduced baby movements, significant abdominal, pelvic or back pain, or regular painful contractions.

A couple of good ones to celebrate this week 🎉
Happy birthday Amelia Trickey - everyone’s hype girl, always backing the people around her and never happier than when there’s a barbell involved.
And happy birthday Josh Truman - one of our ambassadors for a good reason. Always willing to lend a hand, someone we can count on and always looking out for the people around him.
Two very different people who both give plenty back to our community. We’re lucky to have you both.
Show them some birthday love in the comments 👇🏽💙

Big lifts, an even bigger smile and always a friendly face around the gym. One of those people who just makes our community better by being part of it.
We’re lucky to have you, Nicko. Show him some birthday love in the comments 👇🏽

Happy Birthday Coach Matt Carew 🎉
Quick with the wit, always good for a laugh and making sure we wear pink on Wednesdays 💅🏼
A coach who brings plenty of personality to this place and genuinely cares about the people in it. Show Matty some birthday love in the comments 👇🏽
“I’m too old for CrossFit.”
We hear it. Then we look around the room.
Different ages. Different starting points. Some learning their first squat, others lifting more than they thought they ever could. All being coached, challenged and getting stronger.
Strength doesn’t stop mattering as you get older. Neither do balance, coordination, flexibility or the ability to get up off the floor with confidence.
You don’t have to train like the person next to you. Our Coach meet you where you are, and we help you build from there.
The people in this reel started at different ages. You can start at yours.

There’s something freeing about training when the goal isn’t to fix how you look.
CrossFit gives you a better question to ask.
Not:
“How do I look?”
But:
“What can I do?”
Lift more. Move better. Learn new skills. Build real capacity.
When you start measuring progress by what your body can do, your reflection becomes a lot less interesting.
Come and find out what you’re capable of.

Happy Birthday Rhonda Jackson & Kim Cairnduff 🎉
Both women put in the work, share plenty of laughs, and genuinely care about the people they train alongside.
Two very good humans to have in our community.

You probably didn’t expect to see tennis balls at CrossFit.
But there’s more going on here than trying not to send one flying across the gym at 6am 😂
Hand-eye coordination, balance, accuracy, agility, unilateral stability, trunk and shoulder control, reaction and spatial awareness.
All disguised as a warm-up.
Add a moving tennis ball and suddenly you’re trying to hold your position, control your body and react to something unpredictable at the same time.
We could warm up by moving through a list of exercises without thinking too much about it.
Or we can give people something to solve. A position to control. Something to react to. Someone else to work around.
Because CrossFit has never just been about how much you can lift or how quickly you can finish a workout.
Strength and conditioning are the obvious parts, but coordination, balance, accuracy and agility matter too.
The goal is broad, general and inclusive fitness. Not just being good at a few things, but becoming more capable at whatever gets thrown at you.
Sometimes that looks like heavy barbells and hard workouts.
Sometimes it looks like a room full of adults crawling around after tennis balls before the sun comes up. And the fact that everyone is laughing while they do it is a pretty good bonus.
Training should make you more capable. It’s even better when you forget you’re training for a minute.
This is 6am at CrossFit Bass Coast!
There’s probably more to CrossFit than you think.
