Turning Ground
A place to remember our place. Turning Ground is a place and community of practice, offering pathways toward healing and transformation.
Do you find yourself wondering about your relationships, your sense of who you are, and how you weave into the tapestry of your webs of belonging? Maybe you are curious to understand these patterns, and how they have come to be, but haven’t yet had the space or known how to do so.
Interpersonal group therapy is a space for this kind of work. It is the place we may come to know and understand our relational styles, patterns, and ways of connecting and disconnecting from the relationships in which we find ourselves embedded.
Join our upcoming interpersonal group psychotherapy container, co-facilitated by Chloe McKeand and Kyle Miller, beginning on September 22nd. Find the link in our bio.

“We are capable of bearing a great burden, once we discover that the burden is reality and arrive where reality is.” James Baldwin
Are you yourself, or do you know a q***r man seeking to explore their relational patterns, and ways of being in a closed group over time?
Here’s Chris, one of our co-facilitators for our upcoming q***r men’s group, exploring some of the ways interpersonal group therapy can be truly meaningful for q***r men.
Expressions of interest are still open, and we have a couple of seats still available in the circle.

“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”
— Viktor Frankl
Some reflections and invitations from Al, and the first Term of Leading From the Well.
-
How we care, how we learned care (giving, taking, receiving, offering) shows up in our work, whether we’re aware of it or not.
-
Those of us in the ‘caring professions,’ ‘impact’ or ‘purpose-driven’ sectors can be simultaneously driven by both versions of caring that are life-sustaining and depleting, contributing to the increasing rates of burnout we see in the sector.
-
What might understanding our interpersonal patterns, and finding new ways of caring and being cared for, afford us in our personal lives and vocations?
-

They say poems are made of words, but it’s not the words that make them. They point to, make space for, invoke within a certain remembering that cannot be worded.

May we remember, pay great respect to, and preserve all practices of revering the sacred, across all traditions.

Announcing a new therapy group for q***r men, beginning September 16th — applications now open 😌
-
Many q***r men, including trans men, experience similar challenges when it comes to relating, developing safety, and building relationships of authenticity and belonging.
-
Affinity spaces to explore these common experiences in a resonant field, whilst also opening into the differences inherent in our humanity, can be an incredibly healing journey of belonging for this in marginalised or minoritised experiences.
-
This group draws on Irvin Yalom’s existential approach, adapted here specifically for q***r men (including trans men), many of whom learned early to read a room before entering it, and to keep something in reserve even among friends.
-
Through interpersonal interaction, feedback, and shared experience, members develop self-awareness, empathy and new ways of relating.
-
For q***r men in particular, being seen and still accepted by other men can interrupt patterns of hiding that have often been in place since childhood, reducing isolation and building a felt sense of belonging. Guided by skilled q***r therapists, participants challenge patterns that no longer serve them, build resilience, and deepen their understanding of themselves and each other.
-
Wednesdays, 10:30am - 12:00pm
September 16th - November 18th
$1,200 - $1400
Some subsidised places available
-
Are you, or do you know a q***r man that might find this space supportive?
👉🏽 Apply now at the link in our bio, or share with those in your community.
-
We look forward to gathering with those who feel the call.

It is said, and can be seen that something newly alive always and only sprouts on the bones of the old. That new growth only comes where the leaves have fallen.
If the outer seasons have something to teach us about our inner seasonality, then surely we must let the leaves drop, then tend and listen keenly for some new voice from which to whisper and eventually, sing the sounds of Spring.
We still have some spaces left in our next session of Rituals of Remembrance coming up on Saturday July 25th.
Join us for an evening of ritual, sauna, contemplative and somatic practices for deep listening.
🌒 Head to the link in our bio to learn more and register.

But because truly being here is so much; because everything here
apparently needs us, this fleeting world, which in some strange way
keeps calling to us. Us, the most fleeting of all.
Once for each thing. Just once; no more. And we too,
just once. And never again. But to have been
this once, completely, even if only once:
to have been one with the earth, seems beyond undoing.
— Rilke
