👑 SHOWGIRL SPOTLIGHT | 2016 – AMY 👑
As we celebrate 150 years of the Tenterfield Show, we’re looking back at some of the wonderful women who have represented our Show over the years. 🤍
Today we’re celebrating our 2016 Showgirl, Amy!
Amy and her family have been proud supporters of the Tenterfield Show for many years, generously donating cattle, money and their time to help keep our Show running. Families like Amy’s are such an important part of our Show’s story, and we are incredibly grateful for the support they have given over the years. 🐮🌾
We asked Amy:
What was the hardest or most daunting part about being showgirl?
💬 “I loved the whole experience, getting to talk to different people was great! When I travelled to Walgett for zone judging, I found it very daunting. I was lucky to be supported by my family throughout the judging experience. The hardest part was getting up on stage and talking infront of lots of people I didn’t know.”
From stepping onto the stage in Tenterfield to travelling all the way to Walgett for zone judging, Amy’s Showgirl journey is another special piece of our Show’s history. 👑
Thank you Amy, and a huge thank you to your family, for continuing to support our Show through your generosity, your time and your involvement over the years. ❤️

Shout out to Bronwyn Brierley for the article mentioning the early shows!
I hope all of our show jumpers are ready to put their hurdle jumping skills to the test like Anastasia Petrie!

🌟 MEET HEATHER – OUR PAVILION STEWARD 🌟
https://tenterfieldshow.com/section-and-event-information
There are some people behind the scenes of a show who hold so many pieces together — and Heather is absolutely one of those people. ❤️
Heather organises each of our Pavilion Section Stewards, while also wearing what feels like a hundred other hats across our Show. Her attention to detail, planning ability and friendship make her such a key piece of our Show family, and quite simply, we would be lost without her.
With our 150th Tenterfield Show getting closer, we asked Heather what she loves about the Pavilion and being part of the Show.
What do you love most about seeing the Pavilion come together each year?
“Seeing all the entries of people that have entered for the first time. Those that don’t think it’s worth entering because their item or food or produce is not good enough, but they enter anyway because it’s a community event they really want to be a part of.
The other part is to see those that continually enter year after year and take such pride in their work. The time they have spent is always very obvious.”
What do you love about being part of the Show?
“I love the work with the committee. The planning, organising, long nights, early mornings and then seeing it all come together.”
And that really sums up what our Pavilion — and our Show — is all about. 💛
Whether you’ve been entering for years or you’ve always thought “mine probably isn’t good enough” — Heather has given you your sign to enter it anyway!
You don’t have to be an expert. You just have to have a go and be part of the community that makes our Show what it is.
Thank you, Heather, for everything you do, for keeping us organised, and for being such an important part of our Show family. 🌾✨
🐾 DON’T FORGET OUR PAVILION CHALLENGE! 🐾
We’re keeping track of the interaction on each of our Pavilion Section posts, and the section with the highest interaction will get the honour of presenting the winner of the Pet Parade at our 150th Show! 🏆🐶🐱🐴

✨ THE SPONSORSHIPS ARE POURING IN! ✨
The support for our 150th Tenterfield Show is already rolling in, and we are so excited to see businesses, families and community members getting behind this huge milestone! ❤️
There are still plenty of sponsorship opportunities available, so if you’ve been thinking about getting involved, we would absolutely love to have you on board.
Our sponsors are a huge part of what allows us to put on a great show, support our sections and competitors, and create an event that brings our whole community together.
So, while the sponsorships keep coming in, we thought we’d ask the very first sponsor to pay for the 150th Show — Earlwood Equine — why they chose to get behind us. 🐴
What does being a sponsor of the 150th Tenterfield Show mean to you?
“Shows are such an important part of rural communities. We love to be able to support events that bring people together. It’s our way of giving back to the people who support us.”
And we couldn’t resist asking what they love most about the horse section:
“Honestly, often my favourite part of the horse section is watching the people behind the scenes. The Mums, Dads and support crew, show volunteers included, who help to get everyone in the ring, and often go unnoticed or un-thanked. They’re the reason these events continue and I’m constantly amazed at the number of juggling acts these dedicated people can pull off throughout the course of a show!”
A big thank you to Earlwood Equine for getting the ball rolling — and for patiently waiting a couple of weeks for us to start sharing our wonderful 150th sponsors! ❤️
Another big shoutout goes to Lara Parnell for all the prep for the horse section she is mastering! I am sure the Mums, Dads, support crew and competitors are all very appreciative of the work you are doing!
Want to be part of our 150th Show too?
There are still sponsorship opportunities available, and we’d love to hear from you.

🎟️ FIRST TICKET OFF THE RANK! 🥂✨
We’re kicking off our Ball ticket-holder features with none other than Jesse Little — officially the VERY FIRST person to snag a ticket to our 150th Show Ball! 🏆
Jesse is a big part of our Show family and has stewarded the Demolition Derby for a number of years. There isn’t much he doesn’t know about the rules, the action or what goes on behind the scenes to make both the Derby and our Show happen. 🚗💥
We’re used to seeing Jesse around the Derby… but this time we’re swapping the dust and engines for suits, ties and a night on the dance floor! 🕺🥂
When we told Jesse he was officially ticket holder #1 and asked what he was looking forward to, he said:
“Was I that fast? First race I’ve ever won 😂 I’m looking forward to catching up with everyone for a b**r and plenty of laughs and support a good local event.”
We’re super excited to have you there, Jesse!
Now for the important question…
👔 What colour tie do we think Jesse will wear to the Ball?
Bets are on! 😂 Drop your prediction below 👇
And if you want to be there to see Jesse scrubbed up and find out what colour tie he actually chooses, you’d better grab your ticket quick! 🎟️👇

Lily brings something incredibly valuable to our Show family — fresh ideas, a new perspective and an enthusiasm that has us thinking about things we haven’t even dreamed of yet!
She is cluey, compassionate and genuinely excited about growing the Young Woman of the Year competition and creating something special for the young women in our community. We are so glad to have her on board and can’t wait to see what she brings to our 150th Show.

🧵🪡 NEEDLEWORK – MEET CHERYL & FRAN 🪡🧵
As we count down to the 150th Tenterfield Show, it’s time to shine a light on another wonderful pavilion section — Needlework! 🧶✨
Meet Cheryl, our Needlework Steward, along with Fran, who assists Cheryl in bringing this beautiful section together each year.
Needlework is a wonderful showcase of the time, patience, creativity and talent within our community — and Cheryl and Fran get to see it all come together!
We asked Cheryl why she loves the Needlework section and being involved with the Show:
💬 “I love the section because I like to see all the beautiful work that the people of Tenterfield can produce. It’s amazing what we see each year. Very talented people.
Organising well that’s a pleasure. Meeting new people, catching up with like minded people and old acquaintances and seeing entrants faces when they see they have been successfully with their entries in the show.”
We also asked Fran to take us back a few years…
🎡 What did you love about the show as a kid?
💬 “The fairy floss and the doll on a stick and the putting the ball in the clowns mouth to try and win a prize.”
❤️ What do you love now about the show?
💬 “I love seeing what people make and exhibit and catching up with people. A Dagwood dog, you haven’t been to the show till you have a Dagwood dog!”
Some things about the Show might change over 150 shows, but it seems the food, fun, friendships and incredible exhibits never go out of style! 🎡🌭🧵
Now it’s your turn — get those needles clicking, sewing machines humming and projects finished ready for 2027!
