KOALA RESCUE

HEYSEN ENVIRO EXPO

Recently, members of  KOALA RESCUE Inc attended the Aldgate Enviro Expo hosted by Josh Teague MP - Heysen, at the Aldgate Village Well. The main focus of the event was keynote speaker Dr David Paton AM who highlighted concerns around protecting and restoring South Australia’s biodiversity.

KOALA RESCUE Inc provided the public with the opportunity to increase their understanding of koalas by interacting with our eucalyptus Education Tree and  familiarising themselves with tips and facts about koalas.  Our stall also allowed the public to attempt a Trivia Quiz, recognise samples of preferred koala eucalyptus species, share general koala information, and mention the importance of volunteers within KOALA RESCUE Inc.

It was a lovely way to interact with the public and to reaffirm some of the challenges SA koalas experience around habitat loss and climate change.

KOALA RESCUE Inc appreciated the opportunity to attend the Heysen Environment Expo.

🐨 Save The Koala Day 🐨

Today we celebrate all koalas but specifically the beautiful mums and joeys who remind us why the work we do at KOALA RESCUE Inc matters so much.

Over recent months, we’ve rescued mums and their precious joeys, cared for them through illness and injury, watched tiny joeys grow stronger, and had the incredible joy of seeing some families return to the wild where they belong. Others are still in care, growing, healing and preparing for the day they too can be released.

Every rescue has a story, and every release is a little victory for koalas. 🐨

Happy “Save The Koala Day” — and thank you for helping us give these beautiful koalas a second chance. 🧡

🐨 When Eloise came into care at the end of April, she weighed just 1.82kg. Fast forward to her recent weight check and she’s a very healthy 4.305kg! 🎉

But Eloise clearly had other ideas about being weighed… 😂

The second she got the chance, she made a great escape and climbed the closest thing she could find — a wooden doorframe!

We think she was saying, “That’s enough of this weighing business!” 🤣

Eloise is growing beautifully and showing us just how strong she’s becoming. It won’t be too much longer and she will be ready to be released back to her real forever home.
