Recently one of our very active younger members competed in Gold Coast at the Emergency Services Games. The team was made up of volunteers from around NSW and was victorious over the Queensland team.
The same member also received a citation for a fire response to Nowra for a grain silo fire and worked throughout that night with RFS and Fire & Rescue crews to contain the potentially explosive incident.
Well done Will!

Monday 12 October. Extreme Fire Danger with a Total Fire Ban. Good thing we had Get Ready Weekend to prepare for days like this where bushfires can be very difficult to control. Discuss your plan with family and download Hazards Near Me so you can receive notifications of fire in your Watch Area.

Have you seen the red “HP” on a light pole before or the square yellow cover in the front grass or footpath? Fire & Rescue explain that’s how water is obtained for firefighting in urban areas.

Plan what you will take in advance and consider keeping a go-bag so you’re ready to move quickly. Remember to bring important documents such as passports and birth certificates and medical prescriptions. Also, ensure you pack changes of clothes, water, non-perishable food, chargers, and any medications you may need. It may be some time before it will be safe for you to return home.

Don’t wait until you can see flames before you make a decision. Stay up to date with the latest bushfire information on the RFS website, RFS social media, and Hazards Near Me.
