Confidence doesn't come from getting everything right. Sometimes, it starts with being willing to fail.

That's the philosophy behind Aintree Children's Academy, founded by Woodlea residents Amit and Swati. What began as a small learning group has grown into a boutique academy where children are encouraged to build confidence, develop new skills and embrace challenges in a supportive environment.

By creating opportunities for children to step outside their comfort zones through activities like public speaking, chess and creative learning, the Academy is helping shape resilient, confident young people, one child at a time.

Amit and Swati’s passion for helping others extends well beyond the Academy. Amit has spent years giving back through organisations including the CFA, SES and Scouts, while Swati's work in healthcare is driven by a desire to make health literacy and personalised health solutions more accessible.

Another exciting chapter for Woodlea Town is underway!

We’re pleased to share that the land adjoining Woodlea Town Centre has recently settled, marking the next step in the continued evolution of this retail precinct. Plans are currently being developed for a mix of potential shops, hospitality venues and services that will continue to support our growing community.

The site will become a future extension of Woodlea Town, with plans currently being developed for a mix of potential shops, hospitality venues and services that will continue to support our growing community.

A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to complete our recent community survey. Your ideas and feedback are helping us better understand what matters most to local residents and will play an important role in shaping the future of this site. We look forward to sharing more as plans continue to evolve.

As part of this next chapter, the Remembrance Day mural that was located on the site since 2022 has been carefully removed and preserved before development begins. In partnership with the local RSLs, the mural will be relocated, continuing to honour Allan Godfrey and Australia’s service men and women, ensuring its legacy is preserved for future generations.

The Good Neighbours Movement recently conducted a survey of 823 residents across Woodlea and other Western suburbs, offering insights into what makes a community thrive.

For Woodlea, the survey results reflect the impact of a community-focused approach. Early investment in well-designed parks, accessible amenities, and ongoing community initiatives has helped foster strong engagement and connection.

Together, these elements have contributed to a growing sense of local pride and trust, as residents experience a community that is actively shaped around their needs.

With some of the strongest results amongst the western suburbs, these findings reinforce our ongoing commitment to a people-first approach at the centre of decision-making.

Tami-Jo Richter, the Principal of the upcoming Aintree North Primary School - interim name, has been connecting with future school families and the wider Aintree community to prepare for the school's opening in 2027.

Last week, Tami-Jo joined the Aintree Community Builders Group, a network of local volunteers who generously give their time to support community groups across Aintree, facilitated by our Community Development Manager, Pauline Turner.

Together, they shared ideas about building a connected, inclusive and thriving community, and explored how the new school can play an important role in supporting local families.

Tami-Jo also recently held a couple of information sessions, where she met with future school families over coffee, answering their questions and hearing firsthand what matters most to the community.

A big thank you to everyone who has contributed their ideas, feedback and support. We look forward to continuing to work together with Tami-Jo to help create a school and community where everyone belongs.
