Introducing Eva Fernandez to Sydney Contemporary for the first time, we present a series of intimate works whose diminutive scale belies their conceptual depth.
Drawing on historical photographs, Fernandez examines the representation and social role of women during Spain’s Franco era, a period shaped by political repression and rigid gender expectations.
Delicate yet quietly assertive, these miniature works reconsider narratives of identity, femininity and memory.
