Today, the Greek Orthodox Church celebrates the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ. According to the Holy Gospels, Jesus took His disciples Peter, James and John up Mount Tabor to pray. There, He was transfigured before them, revealing His divine glory and strengthening their faith.

Today, 28 July, we honour Saint Irene of Chrysovalantou.
Saint Irene was born in Cappadocia in Asia Minor during the ninth century. She later became Abbess of the Chrysovalantou Monastery and was known for her deep faith, humility and virtuous life.

She is especially beloved by women and couples praying for the blessing of a child. Many faithful seek her prayers and intercession for fertility, pregnancy, and the protection of mothers and children.
