The Pencil Case Art Studio

I got to be part of the cutest frog-themed party you ever did see today. This lovely group of girls created adorable polymer clay frogs and some colourful frog drawings.

For our last After School Art Clubs for this term, students created these gorgeous floral monograms using the first letter of their name. We took inspiration from Australia’s floral emblem, the golden wattle which is starting to blossom now that it’s Spring. These paintings made me very happy - as do school holidays!

I couldn’t let this term end without squeezing in an homage to the legendary Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusama who recently passed away aged 97. My classes enjoyed learning about her life and work and using all the dotted materials I could find to create these beautiful mushroom artworks. Each one is so different! Definitely one of my favourite projects this term. ☺️🍄

This week we printed our lino blocks, experimented with papers and inks and made some mini rubber stamps. Print-making makes the studio a super hectic environment but with small groups of lovely children, it’s a lot of fun ☺️

After School Art Club have been working on some sculptures the past few weeks inspired by the bronze work of the great Swiss artist, Alberto Giacometti. The results were very unexpected - but in the best way possible!
