A SINGLE GRINDING SPARK CAN REACH TEMPERATURES OF AROUND 1,000°C OR MORE! 🔥

That’s why protecting nearby surfaces in a workshop isn’t just about scratches — it’s about understanding what can happen when paint, panels and finished surfaces are exposed to the wrong conditions.

We’re putting Protective Edge protective film to the test 👀

🛡️ SCRATCH PROTECTION — Can temporary protective film help protect painted surfaces during workshop work?

🎨 PAINT & SURFACE PROTECTION — What happens when workshop mess meets a protected surface?

⚙️ THE PEEL-BACK TEST — The real results are revealed when we remove the film and inspect what’s underneath.

Whether you’re working on automotive paintwork, panel repairs, detailing or fabrication projects, protecting finished surfaces BEFORE starting the job can save time, rework and frustration.

But can this film handle the challenge? Watch until the end to see the results. 👇

⚠️ Grinding sparks can damage or ignite unsuitable materials. Only test spark exposure if the manufacturer confirms the film is suitable for that application, using a controlled setup and appropriate protection.

Would you use protective film in your workshop? What should we stress-test next? 💬

🤯 DID YOU KNOW? A bandsaw blade can actually cut its own teeth off if the wrong part of the tooth profile is used for the material. 🦷⚙️

It’s called tooth stripping — and it can happen when cutting forces overload the teeth, especially with poor blade selection or an unsuitable setup.

Now imagine adding poorly supported round tube to the equation. 💀

Round tube can shift, rotate or sit awkwardly in a standard bandsaw vice, making a secure setup absolutely critical.

That’s why we designed the BendBrothers 3D-printed straight tube holding jig 👇

🔩 Designed to support round tube while cutting

📐 Helps position tube in a bandsaw vice

🛠️ Made for real-world fabrication and workshop jobs

🖨️ A simple 3D-printed solution to an everyday engineering headache

Because in metal fabrication, the smallest setup details can make a massive difference.

Be honest — how do YOU hold round tube in your bandsaw? 👇

HOW DO YOU CLAMP 5-INCH ROUND TUBE WITHOUT IT ROLLING AROUND? 👀

Flat vice jaws aren’t exactly designed for round tube.

So we made a better way.

These BendBrothers 3D printed vice soft jaws use a specially shaped profile to locate and hold round tube from 1” all the way up to 5”.

Perfect for jobs like:

🔧 tube cutting
📏 marking
🛠️ drilling
✂️ fabrication
🔥 exhaust fabrication
🏎️ motorsport fabrication
🔩 tube prep

The idea is simple:

give the tube somewhere to sit instead of somewhere to escape.

And here’s the crazy mechanical fact:

A round object under clamping force naturally wants to roll toward a point of lower resistance. That’s why a V-block works so well — the geometry creates two contact surfaces that resist that rolling motion instead of relying on a flat surface to stop it.

Simple geometry.

Massively more useful in the workshop.

Would you trust these with a 5” tube? 👇

Ever wondered why a round tube is such a pain to clamp? 👀

A round tube sitting between flat vice jaws has basically one goal:

ROLL.

That’s because a cylinder only has a tiny contact area with a flat surface, making it much easier to rotate under load.

A V-block changes the game by creating two contact points around the tube, helping locate it and resist rotation.

And there’s a reason this same basic principle shows up everywhere from machining and engineering inspection to pipe fabrication and manufacturing.

So instead of chasing your tube around the vice…

Give it somewhere to sit. 😏

Flat jaws: “please stop moving.”
V-jaws: “we got you.” 😂

A vacuum cleaner doesn’t actually suck anything up. 🤯

It’s the atmosphere pushing it in.

A vacuum cleaner creates a lower-pressure region inside the nozzle. The surrounding atmosphere is sitting at a higher pressure, so air rushes toward the low-pressure area — carrying dust, debris and whatever else is unfortunate enough to be in the way.

And that tiny pressure difference is enough to make a vacuum move some seriously stubborn stuff.

Which brings us to this ridiculous little problem:

What happens when the space is too small for a normal vacuum nozzle?

We designed one.

CAD → 3D print → finished crevice tool → real-world testing.

The goal was simple:

Make the nozzle small enough to reach the impossible spaces without turning it into a useless straw.

That’s where the geometry gets interesting.

The diameter, length, transitions and internal airflow path can all affect how effectively air moves through the nozzle.

So this isn’t just a tiny piece of plastic.

It’s a miniature fluid-dynamics problem.

And 3D printing lets us go from:

“This gap is annoying.”

to:

“Fine. We’ll make a tool for it.”

What ridiculously specific workshop problem should we solve next? 👇

Ever wondered why a vice can grip something so hard without necessarily needing a ridiculous amount of force? 👀

Here’s the weird bit:

A screw thread is basically an inclined plane wrapped around a cylinder.

That means the humble screw in your vice jaws converts relatively small rotational force from the handle into a much larger linear clamping force.

And the finer the thread pitch, the more mechanical advantage you can get.

So when you crank down on a vice, you’re not just “tightening a screw”…

You’re using one of the oldest mechanical force-multiplication systems humans have ever invented. 🔩

Which makes these 3D printed bolt-on vice soft jaws even more interesting — because the same mechanical advantage that makes a vice ridiculously useful is also why protecting the workpiece matters.

Tiny thread. Huge force.

Mechanical engineering is wild.

your AN fitting might be taking way more force than you think. 👀

a typical bench vice can generate thousands of newtons of clamping force — concentrated through two relatively small jaw surfaces.

that’s a LOT of force being applied to one little AN fitting.

and that’s exactly why we made these. 👇

🧲 magnetic AN fitting vice soft jaws
🔧 snap over standard vice jaws
🛠️ create a softer contact surface
⚡ install in seconds
🔄 remove just as quickly

instead of letting hard steel jaws concentrate their load directly onto an AN fitting, the soft jaws create a more forgiving interface between the vice and the part.

the crazy part?

you don’t need a massive vice to generate massive clamping force.

mechanical advantage does the heavy lifting.

the screw in a bench vice converts relatively small hand input into enormous linear clamping force — which is why a fitting can be held incredibly securely without you feeling like you’re applying much force at all.

engineering is basically cheating. 😂

so maybe the real question isn’t:

“can my vice hold this AN fitting?”

it’s:

“what is my vice doing to it while it’s holding it?” 👀

WE GAVE A 3D-PRINTED TIG CUP A PRETTY UNFAIR JOB. 🔥

Instead of asking “will it work?”…

we asked “how much abuse can it take?”

Three tests:

⚡ 1.5mm wall tube — butt weld
⚡ 1.5mm tube → 8mm fl**ge
⚡ 2mm flat strap — butt weld

The TIG flooding cup is designed to increase shielding gas coverage around the weld, helping protect the molten weld pool from atmospheric contamination.

But here’s the wild part:

A TIG arc can reach temperatures of roughly 10,000°C or more in its hottest region. 🤯

That’s hotter than the surface of the Sun.

Obviously, the entire workpiece isn’t sitting at 10,000°C — the extreme temperature exists within the highly concentrated arc plasma, while heat is transferred into the tungsten, weld pool, parent metal and surrounding area.

Which makes putting a 3D-printed tool centimetres from the arc a pretty interesting experiment.

So we stopped talking about it…

…and started cooking it. 👀🔥

TEST 1. TEST 2. TEST 3.

Would you trust a 3D-printed TIG tool this close to the arc?

What happens when you try to abuse a 3D printed fabrication tool? 👀

We put our round tube centre-line marking tool through a mini stress test to see if it could survive the kind of treatment workshop tools inevitably get.

The concept is simple:

→ slide it over round tube
→ insert your marker
→ slide the tool
→ get a consistent centre line

No eyeballing.
No trying to keep a marker perfectly straight by hand.
Just a simple guide doing the alignment for you.

And after getting dropped, squeezed and generally treated like a workshop tool instead of a museum piece…

…it still marks. 😮‍💨

Would you trust a 3D printed tool in your workshop?
