Congratulations Sienna, on an incredible 16 years of dedication, commitment and perseverance in Enshin Karate.

From starting as a young girl, through countless hours of training, tournament victories, challenges, injuries, successes, disappointments, and all the ups and downs that come with a lifetime in martial arts — you have continued to push forward.

Achieving your Enshin Karate Shodan (1st Dan Black Belt) is recognition of the hard work, discipline, and commitment you have shown over those 16 years.

As your teacher i, I am incredibly proud of what you have achieved, but as your Dad, I am even prouder of the person you have become along the way.

A Black Belt is not the finish line. It is the beginning of a new chapter. The foundations have been built, and now the real journey begins.

Congratulations, Sienna. Your Shodan has been well and truly earned.

WORLD SABAKI CHALLENGE — HISTORICAL RESULTS ARCHIVE

I recently noticed that there doesn’t appear to be a comprehensive historical archive of the World Sabaki Challenge results—a record that recognises and celebrates the many great fighters and champions who have competed in Enshin Karate’s most prestigious tournament.

So, I decided to put one together.

I have researched and compiled a World Sabaki Challenge Historical Results Archive, spanning from 1989 through to the present day, recording the champions, finalists and competitors who have helped build the history and legacy of this incredible tournament.

I have done my best to research and verify the results from each year, but with a history stretching back more than three decades, there are inevitably some gaps.

This is where I would love the help of the worldwide Enshin Karate community.

If you are a past World Sabaki Challenge fighter, Enshin Karate instructor, official, coach, photographer, or someone who attended these tournaments and you have missing results, corrections, fighter names, or original group and podium photographs, please send me a DM.

I would be very grateful for anything that can help fill in the blanks and make this archive as complete and accurate as possible. I will continue updating it as new information and photographs become available.

The World Sabaki Challenge has produced some truly outstanding fighters over the years. These competitors trained, fought and represented their dojos and countries at the highest level of Enshin Karate, and their achievements deserve to be remembered and celebrated.

My hope is that this archive becomes a permanent historical record for the Enshin Karate community and allows both current and future generations of students to look back at the fighters who helped create the legacy of the World Sabaki Challenge.

I hope you find the archive both informative and a celebration of the incredible history of Enshin Karate and Sabaki.

A huge congratulations to all of our students who successfully completed their recent promotion test. I am incredibly proud of each and every one of you and how far you have come.

Every new rank represents much more than learning techniques or passing a test. It represents the hours of training, perseverance, discipline and determination that you have shown along the way.

A very special congratulations to Troy Summers and my daughter, Sienna Kardas, who both successfully tested for and earned their Shodan — 1st Dan Black Belt

Reaching Black Belt is a tremendous achievement and an important milestone in your martial arts journey. It takes years of commitment, countless hours on the dojo floor and the determination to keep going through the difficult times.

Troy and Sienna, I am extremely proud of you both and everything you have accomplished. Remember, Shodan isn't the end of the journey, it is the beginning of the next chapter.

To everyone who graded, congratulations on your new ranks. Keep training, keep challenging yourselves, and keep moving forward.
