This is Amelia, and we are obsessed.

Some sessions just have a softness to them, and this was one of them. Amelia slept through most of her session (a newborn photographer's dream), which meant we got to capture every little detail, right down to that gorgeous quilted blanket that's clearly already a family treasure.

Mum and dad were naturals in front of the camera too. It's always special watching parents hold their baby for photos knowing it's one of the first times they've properly stopped to just be still with them.

Is bub's skin looking a little blotchy, peely or spotty right before their photo shoot? So many mums ask us this in the lead up to their newborn session, and the answer is always the same: you don't need to pospone your session!

Newborn skin goes through a lot in those first few weeks. Peeling, milk spots, little rashes, it's all completely normal as bub adjusts to life outside. None of it gets in the way of gorgeous photos.

Our photographers are paediatric nurses, so we know newborn skin inside and out. We'll pose your baby safely and comfortably on the day, and in editing we gently soften the small stuff so your gallery feels like that moment, not a snapshot of a passing rash.

Mum's face in these says it all. That mix of exhaustion and complete adoration that only happens in the first few weeks. We got some gorgeous family moments too, including a little detail shot of tiny toes cradled in mum and dad's hands that we're already a bit in love with.

Meet Maeve.

Mum and dad couldn't stop looking at her, and honestly, neither could we, look how gorgeous she is!

We always say the tiniest details are the ones you'll want to remember. The curl of a hand, the little furrowed brow, the way she settled straight into that wrap like she'd done it a hundred times before.

Maeve was photographer by Mel a paediatric nurse, so getting babies this settled is second nature to her. It meant mum and dad can just relax and soak in the morning instead of worrying about the details.

What even is a sitter session?

Great question! A sitter session is all about that gorgeous stage once your baby can sit up on their own, usually somewhere between six and nine months old.

By this point bub has real personality. You'll see proper giggles, curious little expressions and maybe even a tooth or two peeking through. It's a completely different energy to newborn photos, more playful, more "them".

We keep sitter sessions relaxed and fun. No forcing poses, just following your baby's lead and capturing who they are right now, because this stage moves fast and it's gone before you know it.

Less than you'd think. Newborn skin does a lot of changing in those first couple of weeks, little scratches, dry patches, redness, and in editing we gently soften those so the photo looks the way that moment felt.

What we're not doing is changing your baby. This is still completely, unmistakably them, just with the small stuff smoothed over.
