Magpie Primary School

Congratulations to our award winners for the last fortnight. These students demonstrate our school values of being responsible, respectful and empathetic.

On Friday, our student leaders went for their third session of the City of Ballarat Kids Think Tank, which was held at the brand-new Sebastopol Community Hub.

The Kids Think Tank gives local primary school students a genuine voice in shaping the community they live in. It provides students with the opportunity to share their ideas, opinions and perspectives with Council and have a say in decisions that affect children and young people across Ballarat.

Our student leaders once again jumped straight in, sharing their ideas, listening to the perspectives of other students and thinking about how we can make our community an even better place for everyone.

It was fantastic to see our students confidently representing our school and demonstrating that young voices really can make a difference!

Today our Junior School Council representatives visited Little Wonders ELC in Sebastopol to spend some time working and learning alongside the kinder students.

These visits are a wonderful way to build connections between our local kindergartens and our school, while also helping to develop the confidence of both the kinder students and our school student leaders.

It was fantastic to see the chatter, collaboration and smiles as our big kids and little kids worked together.

Thank you to our wonderful school community for the non-perishable food items you donated during Homelessness Week last week. We had a massive amount of food donated. The food has been donated to the Uniting Relief Centre and will help those in need within our local area.

Last week we celebrated our amazing leader, Mr Whittaker, with an afternoon full of fun, laughter and a few challenges along the way!

Each class organised a special game for Mr Whittaker:

🤔 4/5 – Who Am I?
💃 3/4 – Dance Challenge
⭐ 1/2 – Celebrity (Student) Heads
📖 Prep/1 – A very entertaining book titled “What We Think Mr Whittaker Does All Day”.

There were plenty of laughs throughout the afternoon, but what really stood out was just how well Mr Whittaker knows the students of Magpie P.S.

We would all like to say a huge thank you to Mr Whittaker for his hard work, dedication and commitment to our school. You work tirelessly to make Magpie P.S. a place where both students and staff feel seen, supported and cared for.
