Some of you may have noticed that I’ve been very quiet over the past few months…

Just before the Australia Day long weekend, I suffered a pseudo aneurysm in my leg. Surgery then brought on further complications, and I was unable to walk for about a month. After surgery it quickly became clear there was an underlying condition.

Last week, I received an official diagnosis of Vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (vEDS). If you know me, you know I’ve always been a little one of a kind 😆 well, now I’m apparently one of less than 500 Australians living with this condition.

vEDS is the most severe form of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. It affects the connective tissue that supports and holds together most of the body, including arteries, organs, joints and the heart. I now live with the daily risk of arterial dissection or organ rupture, and even minor trauma to my body can have serious consequences. There is currently no cure or treatment, but early diagnosis gives me the best chance to manage things as carefully as possible moving forward.

Even though this outcome had been suspected, there really are no words to describe being told at 35 years old that you have a terminal illness.

I’ve built so many wonderful friendships through real estate, and the support I’ve received over the past 2.5 years since returning to the industry has honestly been beyond anything I could have imagined. I’m so incredibly grateful.

Right now I’m taking some time away to navigate what this means for myself and my family.

I still have my phone and emails, and you’re absolutely welcome to reach out, however I’m not doing in-person appointments for the time being.
