In martial arts, the details matter.
An armbar and a Kimura may both look like arm submissions, but they work in very different ways, and understanding those differences is part of becoming a better martial artist.
An armbar attacks the elbow through hyperextension. A Kimura uses rotational pressure to attack the shoulder.
It’s more than knowing techniques. It’s about continuing to learn, developing your skills, and having the right support around you as you grow.
We are here to support and help clubs, instructors, and martial artists build knowledge, confidence, and stronger communities.

The instructors who make the biggest difference in a student’s life are often the ones who never stop learning themselves.
AMACS was built for that mindset for coaches who want to keep growing, teach with greater confidence and continue developing their craft.
Because every student you guide, every lesson you teach and every belt you award is also part of your own journey as an instructor.

Martial arts isn’t a “regular gym” with a different logo on the policy. Your club deserves cover that understands what makes it different.
Grappling, sparring and contact drills create a different risk profile, and your insurance should reflect the reality of what happens on your mats.
As a preferred insurance broker for martial arts, MAAIS takes the time to understand your club, your activities and the people you care for before helping you find the right cover.
If you’re unsure whether your current policy truly understands martial arts, we’re always happy to have a conversation and help give you some clarity.

You didn't open a club to do this alone.
Running a martial arts business is its own kind of discipline the paperwork, the pressure, the quiet worries after everyone's gone home. It's easy to forget that behind every "black belt" is someone who once needed a hand too.
That's why MAA exists a community of instructors who back each other up, share what they've learned, and make sure no one's carrying it solo.

A closer look at something too many families are quietly carrying.
1 in 7 young Australians are facing a mental health challenge right now and while there's no single fix, teachers and researchers are finding that structured movement, discipline, and calm-under-pressure training can genuinely help kids find their footing again.
That's the quiet power of a good dojo. It's never just about the kick or the punch it's about the young person standing a little taller afterward.
If you're a club owner, you're doing more for your community than you might realise.

Bob Jones: The Australian Martial Arts Pioneer Who Built a Fighting Legacy Long before mixed martial arts became a global phenomenon, one Australian instructor was asking a simple question that would define an entire generation of martial artists: "Does the technique really work?"
