🌟 Celebrating an inspiring Indian Australian 🇮🇳 🇦🇺
We have always been proud to bring you stories of high-achieving Indian Australians. Today, we feature Dr Sujatha Shanmugasundaram (Suja Shan), recipient of the 2026 ACT Women’s Lifetime Achievement Award, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to nursing education, dementia care and aged care practice. A passionate advocate for Indian communities in Australia, her research is helping improve services for culturally diverse communities.
RJ Kishor chats with Dr Sujatha about her remarkable journey, her work in aged care, palliative care and dementia services, and the importance of making these services more responsive to the needs of the Indian community.

🌍 From humble beginnings to the global stage
We also feature the remarkable journey of Navi Pillay, a jurist of Indian Tamil heritage who grew up under apartheid in South Africa and went on to achieve international prominence. RJ Kishor explores her journey from a modest upbringing in Durban to becoming a judge of the South African High Court and later serving at the International Criminal Court.

🪔 Celebrating our festivals: Pride or provocation?
While people of Indian origin are making their mark around the world, public celebrations of religious festivals sometimes attract criticism and backlash. RJ Kishor tackles this sensitive issue and asks an uncomfortable but important question:

Does our community sometimes contribute to perceptions that fuel resentment by celebrating religious festivals in public spaces without being sufficiently mindful of Australia's multicultural environment and other communities?
A discussion about celebrating our culture with pride while respecting the shared spaces and sensitivities of others.
