Nominations are now open for the Perelberg Award, one of OSCAâs most meaningful honours. Established in memory of Ashley Perelberg (â92), the award recognises Old Boys who embody the Scotch spirit Ashley was known for - his inclusivity, communityâminded and always willing to step forward and contribute approach to his life.
Ashley played a central role in College life, especially through ScotchâatâCowes, where his leadership and ability to bring people together shaped the experience for countless boys. Each year, the Perelberg Award celebrates an Old Boy who demonstrates 'exemplary Scotch spirit' - service, involvement, leadership, and a genuine commitment to strengthening the Scotch community. The recipient receives a silver replica of the Perelberg sculpture.
If you know an Old Boy who reflects these qualities, we invite you to nominate them.
The nomination form - including past recipients - is available on the OSCA website under OSCA Awards. Submit your completed nomination via email to the OSCA Executive Director.
Help us recognise those who continue Ashleyâs legacy of connection, contribution and Scotch spirit.

Today is the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan, Australiaâs most deadly of the Vietnam War.
Seventy-three Old Boys are currently known to have served in the Vietnam War, all of whom survived it, with 32 still living.
The Australian Task Force was commanded by Brigadier Oliver David Jackson DSO OBE (SC 1936) during the battle. Also involved was Lieutenant Colonel John Arnold Warr DSO (SC 1939-42) who commanded 5RAR, which included Intelligence Officer Robert John OâNeill AO (SC 1949-54). Other Old Boys âin countryâ at the time were James Hoggart (SC 1957-60) and Allan Lawton (SC 1957-61).
Sir Alan Wedel Ramsay McNicoll KBE CB CBE GM (SC 1920) was Chief of the Naval Staff (1965-68).
Andrew Ochiltree MM (SC 1960) received the Military Medal for gallantry during an ambush.
Among American Old Boys were Rob SauvĂ© (SC 1955-64) who received the Bronze Star for Heroism on 1 May 1972, Omer Voss (SC 1952-53) who served in the US Navy and Philip Godfrey Dye (SC 1931-36) who was a US Naval Commander who served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam â one of seven Old Boys to serve in all three wars.
Scotchâs only casualty of the war was a civilian, Bruce Sydney Pigott (SC 1959-61), who was a journalist killed along with three others on 5 May 1968 at Saigon.
If you served in Vietnam or know of others who did, or have photographs or recollections to share, please contact the Archivist, Paul Mishura by email: [email protected]

FROM THE ARCHIVES | A look back to May 1977, when the Great Scot announced a major moment in Scotch history - the Scotch College Foundation launching a new membership drive and unveiling plans for a bold new Physical Education Centre. The vision sketched on that front page of the newspaper - an allâyear indoor pool, gymnasium, squash courts and modern change rooms - marked the beginning of the long journey toward the facilities we know today.
The proposed centre sat on the footprint of the old outdoor pool - a space generations of boys remember for its icy morning swimming lessons. Over time, successive building programs, philanthropy and planning evolved that early concept into the Glenn Centre, a purposeâbuilt hub for health, fitness and aquatics. Its indoor pool, expanded training spaces and integration with the surrounding ovals reflect the same ambitions voiced in 1977: to give Scotch students a modern, yearâround home for sport and wellbeing.

What a night in Sydney!
Last Thursday, members of the Scotch Family gathered at The Royal Sydney Golf Club for the 2026 Scotch Family Sydney Dinner, celebrating 175 years of Scotch College and the enduring connections that bring our community together.
The evening was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with old friends and fellow Old Boys, while reflecting on Scotchâs rich history and looking ahead to the future.
Guests heard from Scotch College Archivist Paul Mishura, who shared some of the significant moments from the Schoolâs 175-year history, followed by a School update from Principal Dr Scott Marsh on the Schoolâs priorities, plans and vision for the years ahead.
A big thank you to everyone who joined us in Sydney and helped make the evening such a memorable celebration of the Scotch Family.

The Business Networking Breakfast is one of several initiatives designed to foster meaningful professional connections and lifelong engagement within the Scotch community.
