What does oil analysis actually find? ๐Ÿค” Here's a deep dive into the most important findings:

1. Wear Metals ๐Ÿ“Œ

These are tiny particles made up of metals such as iron, nickel and aluminium. Different metals help identify where problems may be developing.

2. Viscosity ๐Ÿ”ฌ

Viscosity is a lubricants resistance to flow. This can either increase or decrease depending on a problem that is occurring such as coolant ingress or fuel dilution. A significant change in viscosity may result in reduced lubrication and increased wear.

3. Contaminants ๐Ÿ”

Contaminants can include dirt and dust, indicated by finding silicone and sodium, and coolant, indicated by potassium. These contaminants are abrasive causing wear to machinery whilst reducing lubricant effectiveness.

Oil analysis can identify these findings early, helping maintenance teams monitor trends and extend equipment life.

Oil analysis plays a vital role in maintaining fixed and mobile plants๐Ÿ”ฌ

Here's why:

1. Early Warning Signs ๐Ÿšจ
2. Saves Money ๐Ÿ’ฒ
3. Reduces Downtime โฑ๏ธ

Don't wait for a failure to occur, take preventative action.

Total Fluid Management Analysis 15/09/2026

Total Fluid Management Analysis Faster than ever before, says Techenomics.

Total Fluid Analysis at Techenomics is at its fastest, assisting the mining industry.
Techenomics is at the forefront of the fluid management industry providing rapid oil, fuel, coolant and grease analysis to the mining Industry.

Fast and responsive oil analysis provided by Techenomics minimises equipment downtime whilst identifying critical early warning signs to prevent costly component breakdowns.

โ€œWe often receive enquiries from mine sites with very poor laboratory turnaround times of up to 11 days. We can offer a routine service with laboratory turnaround times of 24 hours,โ€ says Techenomics CEO Chris Adsett.

Through Techenomicโ€™s new laboratory in Gunnedah, urgent oil analysis and condition monitoring can be comfortably completed in four hours by a skilled team of chemists.

Grease analysis can prevent costly issues with equipment 31/08/2026

Grease analysis can prevent costly issues with equipment

Techenomics analyses grease for contamination issues...
Grease, like other lubricants, helps ensure smooth and efficient operation of mechanical equipment, and regular analysis of grease by Techenomics, Your Partner in Lubrication Reliability, ensures grease is free of contamination and doing the job it is designed to do.

If left unchecked any issues with grease can result in costly maintenance or even equipment failure.

As well as contamination, Techenomics independent and specialised service tests for wear debris and water content in grease, the same as it does for oil and other lubricants.

Turn to Techenomics for soot and sludge solutions

Build-up of sludge can cause damage to engines...
Soot is generated by incomplete combustion of fuel and is harmful to engines, particularly if left to accumulate, but Techenomics, Your Partner in Lubrication Reliability, has the solutions to prevent this from causing damage or even breakdown and impacting on productivity.

While many think that the soot escapes through exhaust systems, Techenomics CEO Chris Adsett said that just 29 per cent reached the atmosphere by way of the exhaust pipe with the majority being deposited on the cylinder walls piston crown with some captured in the engine oil filtration system.

He said with the soot retained in the engine, including in the lubricant, three per cent was attributable to blow-by gases and the remainder was from piston rings scraping away soot deposits in the cylinder with this material ending up in the sump.
