Hepatitis can affect anyone. Knowing your status can protect your health.
World Hepatitis Day is a reminder of the importance of testing, early diagnosis and treatment to help eliminate viral hepatitis.
Viral hepatitis can cause inflammation of the liver and often has no symptoms in its early stages, meaning many people may not know they are infected.
You may benefit from speaking with your GP if you:
βοΈ Have never been tested for hepatitis B or hepatitis C
βοΈ Were born in, or have lived in, a country where hepatitis B is more common
βοΈ Have risk factors for hepatitis C
βοΈ Think you may have been exposed to viral hepatitis
The good news is:
π Safe and effective vaccines are available for hepatitis B.
π Effective treatments are available for hepatitis B and can cure most cases of hepatitis C.

Welcome Dr May Ling Nguyen to Barrymore Medical Centre
We are delighted to welcome Dr May Ling Nguyen to the Barrymore Medical Centre team. Dr Nguyen will commence consulting from Monday, 3 August, and will be available Monday to Friday, 9:00 am β 5:00 pm.
Originally from New Zealand, Dr Nguyen graduated from the University of Auckland and has spent the past six years working across both metropolitan and regional hospitals in Australia and New Zealand. She brings a broad range of clinical experience, having worked in general medicine, emergency medicine, rehabilitation medicine, and paediatrics.
Dr Nguyen has a special interest in women's health, contraceptive counselling, and mental health. She is passionate about delivering holistic, patient-centred care, with a strong focus on education, preventative health, and empowering patients to make informed decisions about their wellbeing.
Now proudly calling Melbourne home, Dr Nguyen is excited to become part of the vibrant local community and looks forward to providing compassionate, high-quality care to patients of all ages at Barrymore Medical Centre.
