At Aussie Kindies Glen Innes, we believe that being part of a community means standing together, especially when one of our own needs us most.

Today, we are reaching out to our wonderful families to support a young man who holds a very special connection to our centre and our Glen Innes community.

Meet Carter Swaffer. 💙
Carter is not only the beloved grandson of our very own Ms Monica, who has dedicated 22 incredible years to our centre, but he is also the brother of one of our kindy friends and the uncle of one of our little toddler friends.

Carter is part of our extended Aussie Kindies family, and as a young member of our community, he represents the future of Glen Innes.

Recently, Carter’s life changed dramatically when he became critically unwell and was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. After being placed in a coma, he was flown to John Hunter Hospital, where he spent six days in a coma. His recovery journey continues, with specialist appointments, physiotherapy and ongoing medical care.
Now it’s our turn to show Carter and his family that they are not walking this journey alone. ❤️

On Wednesday, 21 October, our educators will be coming together to host a special Bake Sale Fundraiser, with all proceeds going directly towards supporting Carter and his family through his recovery.

💙 Every dollar raised will go towards helping Carter and his family.

Glen Innes is more than just a town. We are a community that looks after its own.

Twenty-two years of showing up for children. Twenty-two years of care, patience and encouragement. Twenty-two years of helping little ones learn, grow and find their confidence. ❤️

Across more than two decades, Ms Monica has been part of countless childhood moments—from comforting children as they settle in to celebrating their achievements and waving goodbye as they head off to school. The children she cared for at the beginning of her journey are now young adults themselves—what an incredible reminder of just how many lives 22 years can touch! 🌱

Our centre has seen many changes over the years, and Ms Monica has helped shape its story. Her years of experience, familiar presence and commitment are something truly special to celebrate.

Today was a very special day for our Aussie Kindies Glen Innes community as we came together for our Flag Raising Ceremony, proudly raising the Aboriginal Flag, Australian National Flag and Torres Strait Islander Flag.

A heartfelt thank you to Glen Innes Severn Mayor Cr. Margot Davis - Mayor, Glen Innes Severn Council for taking the time to join us and be part of this meaningful occasion. We truly appreciated having you visit our service and share this special moment with our children, educators and community. 💐

We would also like to extend a very special thank you to our Regional Manager, Christy Sinclair, who travelled all the way from Coffs Harbour to join us for this important event. We are incredibly grateful that you made the trip to celebrate this milestone with us. ❤️

A big thank you to Barnaby Joyce MP Barnaby Joyce for sending us the three flags. We truly appreciate your support and contribution in helping us bring this meaningful project to life. 🇦🇺

It was a wonderful opportunity for our children to come together, learn about respect, belonging and the importance of acknowledging and celebrating the diverse cultures and histories that make up our community.
