This is one of my favourite parts of a treatment session. Teaching owners how to find and relieve the sore spots around their dog’s shoulders and front limbs.
Forelimb massage increases local circulation, reduces muscle tension and helps restore mobility through the front end.
For dogs with arthritis, elbow dysplasia or those compensating for pain elsewhere in the body, the muscles through the front limb often work overtime.
They need release, not just rest.

👀 Watch This…Finding Your Dog’s Shoulder Blades
One of the first things I teach owners in clinic is how to locate their dog’s shoulder blades.
The scapula is one of the most important landmarks on your dog’s body. Once you can find it confidently, you can access the shoulder and peri-scapular muscles easily.
Press gently into this region 👆
Feel for tension, tightness or a reaction from your dog. That’s information.
Muscles around the scapula work hard especially in dogs compensating for pain elsewhere in the body. Releasing tension here can improve movement through the whole front limb.
