Northern Response Training
"From the office to the outback safety starts here"
First aid that sticks, simple, hands-on training for real life situations.
Norther Response Training helps you stay calm, confident, and ready - wherever you are
π©Ή It's alright, everyone. Even first aid trainers have bad days! π
The other day, I managed to cut my own hand on a tourniquet. π€¦ββοΈ
Easy fix, right? Just put a Band-Aid on it!
Exceptβ¦ I failed to apply it successfully on the first attempt. π€£
The class passed while I failed my own practical assessment!
Turns out, you can never let your guard down around first aid equipmentβ¦ not even when you're the trainer. πβ€οΈβπ©Ή

π¨β€οΈ When your training venue comes with its own wildlife!
We had a couple of unexpected visitors hanging around in the trees while we were training recently.
You can't get much more Australian than doing a day's work with wild koalas keeping an eye on you! π¦πΊπΏ
Definitely a pretty good view from the office for the day. π

π HIDDEN DISABILITIES WEEK π
Because not everything comes with a warning label! π
You can't always see ADHD, autism, chronic pain, anxiety, dyslexia, brain fog or the 47 tabs someone has open in their brainβ¦ 12 of which have crashed and one is playing music nobody can find. π« π
Someone might look fine but be struggling. They might need extra time, a little help, a quiet space or just some understanding.
You don't have to understand someone's disability to respect their needs. π
At Northern Response Training, we believe people learn and respond differently. Inclusion means making room for those differences, not expecting everyone to fit the same mould.
So this week, let's judge a little less, understand a little more, and remember that someone can be capable, independent and still need support.
And if you've ever said βI'm fineβ while internally resembling a Windows computer on 1% batteryβ¦ we see you. ππ

First aid isn't just for workplaces. β€οΈ
We've also been out teaching high school students recently β helping them build the confidence to recognise an emergency, get help and know what they can actually do.
We love seeing students realise that first aid isn't about being a medical expert.
It's about knowing what to do when something goes wrong.
(We don't share photos of children so have used Roseworthy University instead)

π When your first aid kit gets an unexpected visitor...
This was found inside our own first aid kit after a mouse decided to move in! π³π
With the weather warming up and everyone spending more time outdoors, now is a good time to give your first aid kit a proper check.
β
Check bandages and dressings for damage
β
Check packaging hasn't been chewed or contaminated
β
Check medications and other supplies are in date
β
Replace anything that's been used or damaged
β
Make sure your kit is suitable for where you're actually heading
Because the last thing you want is to discover your first aid supplies have been turned into someone's nesting material when you actually need them! π
When was the last time you checked your kit?

π Have you seen the latest in anaphylaxis training?
Any guesses what this little gadget is? π€
We've just added Neffy training devices to the Northern Response Training kit!
Have you seen these before? π

First aid training isn't just for traditional workplaces.
We've recently had the opportunity to work with Occupational Therapists as well, tailoring the training environment to suit the people we're working with.
One of the things we love about training is meeting people from completely different industries and seeing how first aid applies to their everyday work.

Some of our patients are a little easier to move than others... π
Our mannequins have been getting plenty of kilometres lately as we take training outside the classroom.
Because practising scenarios in different environments helps us think about what first aid can actually look like in the real world.
Just your completely normal first aid trainers... casually transporting a body in the back of the car. Nothing suspicious here. π
Good thing this one doesn't talk! π

First Aid Doesn't Always Happen in a Classroom
Sometimes your "patient" is waiting on an ATV in the middle of the bush! π
We've been making the most of the beautiful weather, getting our training gear outdoors and reminding ourselves that emergencies don't always happen somewhere convenient.
From remote locations to workplaces, schools and community groups β first aid skills need to work where you actually need them.

ποΈ MOTORCYCLE AWARENESS MONTH ποΈ
With today's wet weather, it is a good reminder to look twice, give riders space and stay alert.
And for us at NRT, itβs also a reminder that knowing what to do after the crash matters just as much as trying to avoid one.
You never know when it might be your mate, another rider β or you.
Ride safe. Ride prepared. Look after each other.
