Can you be the champignon our community needs by improving access to healthy, affordable food that nourishes both body and soul?
We believe in you!
Merri Food Hub is on the hunt for a either a temporary co-manager or a logistics superstar to lead the way at our Glenroy and Fawkner markets.
Check out the fab opportunities in the comments below! And rest assured, we'll compensate you fairly, in accordance with the relevant award, because we're all about empowering our team members
On Friday 4th of September we gathered at the Senior Citizen’s Centre in Fawkner to unveil local artist Maggie Cowling’s portrait of John Englart.
This beautiful watercolour portrait was the winner of the Climate Change Award at the 2025 Merri-bek Summer Show: Love in Crisis. Begun some months before John’s death, it represents his tireless dedication to climate action and social justice, the community’s appreciation for his vision and commitment, and his love for his two chihuahuas, Juliet and Indiana Jones.
We were joined at the unveiling by the Mayor of Merri-bek Cr Nat Abboud, Cr Sue Bolton, members of Climate Action Merri-bek and friends and supporters of John.
At Merri Food Hub, we feel honoured to have John’s portrait displayed at our home in Fawkner. His cheery presence and unrelenting support of the hub will be dearly missed and we will continue to strive for an inclusive and sustainable food system in his memory.
